These books are for those who want to explore the Old Testament in more detail. I became interested in them because they were included in the 1611 version of the King James Bible. I consider Tobias/Tobit, the Prayer of Azariah, the Prayer of Manasseh, and Laodiceans required reading. The Macabees introduce the Bible student to Hasmonean rulers who set the stage for the generation that rejected Christ.
When the Geneva and King James Bibles were first translated, these books were included. When the Puritans came to America, they came armed with these books in their Bibles. In fact, these books have spent more years in the King James than they have spent out of it! But more than that, I have tested them with the Word of God contained in the 66 more familiar books, and I have not found a contradiction. The original meaning of the word apocrypha is "hidden", though some now use the word to mean something of questionable value. Why not read the books and see for yourself? All of God's word is able to stand on its own and needs no defense from me, and anyone without these books merely deprives himself. They are not dangerous. Taste and see that it is good.

This enhanced edition of the Apocrypha really brings the words to life. I had never appreciated the wisdow in these books. The history is amazing. This edition includes stunning images that are quite breath-taking. The detail in this presentation is much appreciated. I was blown away by the search function. I hope to see more enhanced editions of other books. A real bargain at the current Kindle price.
