This amazing series continues to reward us. The artwork by Matthew Roberts is skillful - he draws early 19th century clothing and equipment with aplomb.Mr. Dingess's writing is excellent. The overall story is wonderful and original - Lewis and Clark set out to explore the Louisiana Purchase territories and clear it of dangers to humans (monsters). There is a public journal (the history we know) and a private journal (again, the monsters). The plot, as in the first two volumes, is paced well. There are a decent number of supporting characters, and they offer interesting quips and the occasional funny line. Make no mistake though, this book is about the differing styles, strong partnership and easy banter between Lewis and Clark. They are well developed and quite interesting.This book makes no compromises when it comes to frontier life.
Combining Historical Fiction with good old-fashioned monster-slaying horror, Manifest Destiny has been a page turner for me from the beginning. I get pretty anxious waiting for the next volume to be released since I'm reading it in graphic novel form. My favorite title that Image is running right niw, easily.
Book arrived in perfect condition. The latest volume in the adventures of Lewis and Clarke was great it starts to give a bit more back story on certain characters and introduces the crews newest threat. I won't spoil it for anyone but I am really enjoying this series I just wish the volumes were released quicker since I don't read the monthly comics. Can't wait for volume 4. I hope they keep the current pace and not rush it or do any time jumps. Love waiting each volume to see what new creatures they will come across next.
becoming monotonous now.. wont give out spoilers but the authors are taking it too far with the monsters speaking english .. would like to get on with the story / plot..
