This is supposed to be a clean romance novel. Unfortunately, the entire book deals with a young woman's plan to seek revenge on 2 men who she believes wronged her deceased mother. And the ending leaves you hanging because the story continues in a subsequent book! No. Did not care for this novel at all.
This book is very well written as far as grammar and sentencing. The pace is slow and there is not enough to the story-line. It was described as a Christian romance yet aside from going to church on Sunday, there was nothing to show the writer had a Christian view point, in fact some of the language was un-Christian. I feel this story could have been better with more thought towards a stronger plot. I gave 4 stars because I feel Taylor will grow in her writing and improve with time to become excellent, and I wish to encourage that. I pray she keeps on READING as this will in turn help her understanding of how to improve and make her stories more interesting.
Even with it being a cliffhanger, there was a good story and a lot of potential future action and adventure. The language was a bit more mainstream that I expected as this was categorized as a clean a wholesome book. I liked the characters, there is enough anger in Mary, to keep it interesting. I can see the growth in Taylor's writing. She has great potential. Maybe she needs to not be so prolific and get more in-depth with the characters.
A novel that includes the hard lives of a young women who strives to protect and care for her mother in London.. But when her mother is taken from her by illness the story becomes an adventure. You can then follow her and her friends as they venture to America in a heartfelt mystery. A unique and enjoyable journey for the reader.Sincerely,John H Kuhl, CPCM

I dont like cliff hangers so this book would never get a good rating from me. In addition the language used was not true to the era and on several occasions the use of modern phraese was strange tosay the least. E.g. " same old same old". I found the book boring? not sure where the plot was going. It did not keep my interest at all.
I am writing this review of Book 2 since I already wrote a review of Book 1, which I wrote in return for a free copy to review. Book 2 changes Emily's name to Mary, except when Anna pleads with her to change her plans for revenge on her grandfather and to be content to be a governess or nanny to two little girls Taylor R. Lawson demonstrates almost magical ability to create word pictures that involve the reader, whether the reader approves of the particular action. Editing this book has improved, but Book 2 still needs a few grammatical and spelling errors corrected. The Christian romance unfolds skillfully. I enjoyed this book very much and look forward to reading Book 3 when it is released. I consider this book a 'safe' read for the whole family, but be surprised for a surprise ending in Book 2.
I considered giving this novella 4-Stars, even though I felt that the sales pitch typed in red at the beginning of each chapter was a turn off, and in poor taste. But the novella ended abruptly, without an ending. I was invested in the story and it just stopped, with no ending, no closure. It has potential if it gets finished.
