I bought this book for struggling and reluctant readers. They were very interested in the hero stories that were available. I was particularly interested in them honing their reading skills. The critical reading skills that are addressed in this book are: main idea, vocabulary, synonyms/antonyms, inferences, recalling facts, paraphrasing and summarizing, and author's purpose. The book is separated into themed areas and allows students to make connections between the stories. I highly recommend this product for homeschoolers and teachers who have students that may not be at grade level. I extended the activities by having students write a full summary of each story that they read.
