My kids have used Houghton Mifflin Reading books for 3 years, and the quality of the book as well as the stories are superb. The stories help to enforce history as well as culture, both of which are an added bonus to the reading skills obtained in this text book.
I homeschool my granddaughter and she is a reluctant reader, she struggles with books and stories that are to challenging but gets bored and doesn't want to finish books or stories she thinks are "babyish". This book is just right, we have used Houghton Mifflin reading books for three years now and they are always good.
