Two stars for finishing....I get five stars for reading the whole thing. My Dear, so much potential here but perhaps your research is lacking and you do need an editor. Can you pull this, edit for grammar, add a bit of relationship building then fix the abrupt ending? Might be worth the effort. Best wishes.
The Scandal of the Duke's Baby was not as good as I expected from the title and the short information about the book. The characters should have been developed more and the story just came to a stand still with many questions unanswered. More time and effort should have gone into this story to make it a full novel, then I think I would have enjoyed it. I was very disappointed.
Reads like a school girl's homework assignment in a "not so" creative writing class. The storyline could have been richer if developed. It was rushed and the dialogue was stilted. The characters are one dimensional. I will not be reading anything else from this author.
Olivia who is strong willed meets Vincent the Duke but does not know that it is he. They have several encounters. When she and the guests are told to stay out of one of the wings of the house Olivia becomes curious. She finds the nursery not realizing a baby is actually in the room. Vincent finds her gushing over the baby and is angry. He explains to her in the morning who the child is. He asks Olivia to marry him but his mother will not have it. A wonderful short story with a great ending!!
I must admit the tittle of this book caught my attention. I wanted to know how, who, what, why, when and so forth but the actual reason made me sad. I was enjoying the story and the characters but then suddenly the pace was on fast forward and it threw me off kilter. The story is good but wish it was more steady in pace that would leave me satisfied rather than shocked.
