Bought this book and downloaded it this afternoon.....could not put it down. I have to admit that I had to take a break to cook supper but finished it as soon as the kitchen was clean. This is the 4th book in the series.....love to see how the characters have grown and the story line developed. I highly recommend reading this book along with the previous 3.... we all need to be reminded about how morals are so important in this day and time. Friendships among true friends can last a lifetime when we are honest and kind to one another along with honesty and forgiveness. A good reminder in this book...treat others as you want to be treated not how others might treat you. Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
This was the first book by this author I've read and I enjoyed it. A full hymn was included in the body of the book and I liked that. Also the special meaning of the clothes line for this newly married couple was cute. Some great lessons about Christian living were woven throughout. I look forward to reading more by this author. Enjoy!
I enjoyed reading this book very much. It is the last series of an Amish agile coming of age. From the age of 16 when she can go to the singing where the youth of the community. On the first night she is asked if she will ride home. She grows closer to God as each year passes in the succeeding passes and she learns how to deal with bullying. They are quick reads.
I absolutely loved this book. I started out with the first in the series, "The Tomato Patch", and when I finished it, I immediately bought the other three in the series, "The Quilting Bee", "The Hope Chest", and this one. I immediately loved Priscilla Smucker, and then Stephen Esh, and had to find out how their stories continued. I must say, I don't think I could have taken what Priscilla did when she was the victim of bullying. She was so strong for such a young person. Great lessons in forbearance and patience and forgiveness. Would recommend this series to anyone who loves good Christian reading.
Every one of Sarah's books is like a trip "home" again. She writes of the Amish from her years of living among them and loving them. She paints word pictures of the Amish and their "homey" way of life as few authors can. I look forward to each of her books -- and another trip "home".
I too bought this book the day it was available! I also read it in one day; it's compelling. The message in this series of novellas is so important for present time. I believe there is always a character in the books by Sarah Price that a reader can identify with. I would suggest that the books be read in the order that they were written for a true flow of the story line.
I recommend The Clothes Line to those who are keeping on keeping on.... some days are really hard and yet as you go through the motions, you find strength.... as you join together with others of like mind, you feel the power rising up..... I recommend these books by Sarah Price if you like to learn of other cultures as well....
The wisdom, close family and friendships displayed in this series are inspiring and insightful. It has been wonderful to see how the characters interact, support each other throughout the stressful encounters with the bully character, and find peace with themselves and each other.
