With the unsettling stories in the Middle East continually in the forefront of the news cycle, it seems that many of the events prophesied in the Bible are in the process of being fulfilled right before our eyes. Over the years, I’ve compared the many different interpretations of these prophecies with the Biblical record and frankly I’ve not been totally satisfied with the results.Into this mix Bill Salus offers a new book entitled The Now Prophecies. This book looks at some of the more important prophecies related to the destruction of Damascus, the final Israeli-Arab war, current events in Iran, and the decline of America. In this book Mr. Salus takes, what is to my knowledge, a unique approach to organizing these prophecies into a congruent interpretive framework. Mr. Salus’ framework is as follows:1. The NOW Prophecies2. The NEXT Prophecies3. The LAST PropheciesAccording to Mr. Salus the NOW prophecies “spans the period of time existing between the establishment of the Jewish state of Israel, which happened in 1948, and the fulfillment of the Ezekiel 38 and 39 prophecies…” which Mr. Salus explains are the NEXT prophecies.I must admit to feeling a little bit lost while reading this book. The NOW Prophecies is the first book I’ve read by Mr. Salus and it became apparent to me that I missed much of the necessary background information explained in his other books, Psalm 83, The Missing Prophecy Revealed and Israelstine: The Ancient Blueprints of the Future Middle East. So if this is your first book by Mr. Salus I’d definitely recommend you first read his other books before you dig into this one.Admittedly, I have not reached an understanding of the subject with which I am completely comfortable.
