Having been drawn to this title and book I feel it will be beneficial to those that fall in the following categories:– Desire to gain understanding into the prophetic– Feel a call to the office of a prophet– Need guidance on proper prophecy etiquette– Want to glean from others experiential role in prophesyingIn a conversation-like style, author Matthew Robert Payne is very transparent when relaying his personal experience as a profit as well as the struggles that others can expect to surface. Regarding the scope of this book he declares the following: "This is not a textbook, and it is not full of scriptures, but it is a simple guide for you to get a feel about the ministry office to which you belong. "The reader will need to be prepared to go through the maturing process and, in doing so he offers the advice to not be too concerned when you miss it from time to time. He coaches you to realize that it keeps you dependent on the Holy Spirit. Assurance that your ministry efforts should continue.Distinctions are given between a prophetic person and a prophet. God's desire is that everyone prophesy but everyone is not called to be a prophet. A prophet is a complicated calling, he shares, that includes a lot of grief, rejection, misunderstanding and suffering. Here the author shares a 1-2 punch on the do's and don'ts of prophecy. "Anyone who delivers a personal prophecy that brings shame, condemnation, or guilt to a person hasn't acted according to the spirit of God and hasn't delivered a prophecy correctly.
Just finished reading the guide and I found it interesting. Have prophesied once before when the Holy Spirit fell on me. Don't remember the message interpreted because I was weeping a lot, because God was faithful to use me, not a pastor, no degree but my "prayer" to be used by faith, and yes, the Lord hears and sees. By revelation He showed me it would happen, the day I least expected I was that vessel and I praise Him forever for that opportunity to be a voice. In reading Mr. Payne's book I will be honest I cried every now and then. For those who don't understand why God uses those that "they" may feel are not connected, you may have to die to the flesh and understand, "we are all God has to work with we are Imperfect, but He uses us!" Aren't we glad for that opportunity? Also mental illness, doesn't mean you cannot be used by God. Some things you need to be open minded with the things shared. I am sure that Mr. Payne is well aware you cannot fool the Lord nor would he want to make the Lord come down to him. I felt peace, and was not lead by my mind but focus on my spirit, and if you love the prophetic like Mr. Payne displays clearly, I am sure He knows there will be those who disagree with some things and to be expected. I found the guide informative, insightful and although I cannot afford to pay for a word, I am compel not to and would have to wait on the Holy Spirit to give me that word. The experiences are unique that were shared, and the part of taking that step and send a word to the author is very challenging. Although explained the direction to take in doing so, I am more concern the flesh might rise and not be accurate even though I know I am prophetic like many.The mix that comes with those who are prophetic as Mr.
