Engaging storytelling that keeps coming back to me long after I put this book down. I don't know where the story is headed and I couldn't be more thrilled about that. I feel like I'm getting in on the ground floor of something that's going to be really special. Do you have friends that want to get more into comics? Or friends that are into comics but deserve to be reading material of a higher quality? This is the book you should recommend to them.
Really enjoyed this book - it does a great job of depicting everyday working life on a space station/facility, with all its facets, but then throwing in some cosmic weirdness and horror. So many books jump from crisis to "big set piece," but Cotter lets the story build slowly, giving us tidbits about the main characters and their backgrounds - things we wonder about, but file away for later. The people do real things - get on each other's nerves, worry about relationships, etc. - but then there is a bigger story going on. The end of this volume throws the reader into a dark, crazy void, leaving one to wonder what'll come next. There's no way for things to go back to normal! And I can't wait to see Volume 2. And of course the artwork is amazing ... the people are cartoony but individual and not idealized. The station/facility feels like a real place ... clunky nuts 'n' bolts and all.
