I will start out by saying that I personally have only read snippits of these books and have not read them in their entirety. Nor do I claim to know all the historical facts surrounding all of the people featured in these books. But I do feel like the following is important information for someone thinking about purchasing or reading these:My daughter (age 10) has been devouring these books (along with the boys' set) from her school library. The first one she read was a little "heavy" for her--it was about people who were martyred for their faith. That was a lot for her to swallow at her age. The rest have been about Christians who have made an impact. (Each book features several people and is broken into chapters about each.)Anyway, I had just finished reading The Hiding Place (by Corrie Ten Boom) so I was interested when I saw that Corrie Ten Boom was featured in one of these books that my daughter had home from the library. I was interested to read what this book would have to say about Corrie and her life. I was disappointed to find that some of the historical facts were not accurate. For example, this book has a scene where Corrie is speaking with her mother about how they can hide Jews in their home... but in real life, Corrie's mother had died long before the war and persecution of the Jews ever took place. Corrie also has a "conversation" in this book with her sister Nollie about hiding Jews in "their" home and it indicates that Nollie was living at home at the time of the Holocaust as well, when in fact, she was grown, married, had a family of her own, and was living elsewhere.Are these crucial details? Perhaps not.
