I know this book is geared toward kids, but I downloaded it out of curiosity. I thought I might share it with a few younger kids in the family. I actually enjoyed reading the book and found it very interesting. After reading the book I thought I had a very good basic understanding concerning rocks, minerals, and their formation. I loved the pictures. They were very clear, sharp, and added to the overall informative nature of the book.
The pictures in this book are beautiful. This is a book that is very well done and the launch timing is perfect. I just saw on TV last night a new island just off the coast of Pakistan! It is made mostly of mud and people were already walking on it.Several years ago, my wife and I were at the Grand Canyon and saw small bags of small stones that had been polished. I bought one for my grandaughter, Savanah. She loved it. This book would have been perfect for her.A recommended read for kids in the first five grades, but interesting for anyone.
A great book for kids of all ages that are interested in learning about nature and the world we live in. I have always been fascinated by the earth's surface and different rocks that compose it. So when I saw this book I thought I would purchase a copy. I have read some of Andrea Winters' other books and knew that they are always high quality. I was not disappointed with this volume. I also enjoyed learning about the type of rock on Mount Rushmore where the four presidents were sculpted. Fun and Interesting book, which I recommend.
My seven year old son read this book. He says that it is a good book for five to seven year olds. He thought it had a lot of good facts about rocks and minerals. He would have like it to be a little longer. He liked the pictures and the facts.
I've been teaching the kids geology lately and this eBook has proven to be fantastic! It has a lot of great information and make learning about rocks and minerals fun for the kids. We're a homeschooling family and I recommend this book to anyone looking for more geology information to add to their curriculum.
Rock and Minerals book for kids is great educational read although I think adults will enjoy this book just as much, I certainly did.Andrea Winters has done a great job and this book is perfect and an easy read to understand rocks and minerals.Highly recommended
