I remember when it was announced that Boom was doing an adaption of Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, I was a little concerned but I decided to give a chance. I've read the book the comic series was based off. The comic does not cut or remove anything from the original story, the only difference is that scenes are drawn instead of written out. The artwork for the series fits the tone of the story. I always wanted to have an omnibus version of the series because I felt it deserved it.What about the story? Well, Blade Runner is loosely based off this story and before you jump and and say it isn't as good as the book or vice versus, know that Philip K Dick liked both of them equally. I won't spoil the story here. It has a lot of symbolism in it. Each of characters are interesting and unique. Fair warning, if you've never read Philip K. Dick understand that his stories do not end in a predictable way. This is a hard sci-fiction story. If you haven't read the originally story or even if you have, I would recommend you give the omnibus of the comics a read.
Pretty good illustrations for a comic book but way to much description detail for a comic if I wanted so much detail I would have just bought a cheaper copy of the novel and read that.
Okay, this graphic novel is utterly fantastic.Forget how daunting a task it is, to merge an unabridged prose novel into a comic book layout? Forget how noble and frightening a task it is, to take two source materials which have been so revered by so many for so long - and fuse them into a new, independent artistic source material worthy of both?? Those gargantuan challenges aside (which Tony Parker, Blond, Starkings and BOOM! Studios miraculously accomplish) - this *Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? Omnibus* is just flatout sci fi / comic book FUN!I am a lifelong fan of both Philip Dick's *DADOES* novel and Ridley Scott's "Blade Runner" film. I'm also snarky, overly-critical, and annoyingly-territorial of things I love. But this... this brilliant endeavor... this thing shut me up and knocked my socks off. It was like experiencing the book AND film for the first time, all over again. If you are a fan of either or both? Do yourself a favor, and buy this graphic novel omnibus.
