I enjoyed this second chance clean romance story that if full of emotions and doubts. Audrey Norris of Boston was widowed leaving her with a daughter and her widowed mother and a large mortgage that she will not be able to pay. With the encouragement of her mother, Kathleen Riley, she checks out The Matrimonial Times for a husband willing to accept all three of them. Widower Caleb Jefferson lost his wife to a drowning leaving him with a young daughter. He blames himself for her death and vows never to let another woman into his heart. His daughter, Beatrice, needs a woman in her life, so Caleb agrees to read the responses from a mail order ad his sister placed. After several letters exchanged, Caleb sends three train tickets to bring Audrey, her mother, and daughter to Cutter’s Creek, Montana. The plot of the story kept me captivated and at times made you want to knock Audrey and Caleb upside the head for their attitudes. Caleb plays the injured party as if he is the only person to lose a spouse. Guilt is a bad bed-fellow and eventually can sour people that are around you. Audrey shows love and compassion to his daughter, and he is good with hers, but life needs to go on for these two adults. “For some reason, the impression that they were one happy family was more important than actually being that happy family.” Sometimes it takes a shock, and a wake-up call to realize that what is right in front of you is your future, and you must leave the past in the past. Two people, neither one looking for love again, but with time, patience, friendship, and family, God opens the door to love and their future.
Audrey's husband Sam dies and leaves her bankrupt without a means of support for her, her daughter and her mother so she answers a mail order bride ad to go to Cutter's creek to marry Caleb, a widower with a daughter. Caleb is not through mourning his wife and he might never be, but he could agree to a marriage of convenience. And Audrey would be OK with that and maybe to love would happen later. The daughters bond immediately And with her and her mother keeping house, it runs smoothly, but Caleb and Audrey ever bonding is highly in question and he tends to hide at work all day rather than talk about it.
Loved the book with all the events taking place. The characters showed their experiences with other people to be not what they expected as they got to know the other. The groom was still grieving over his dead wife blaming himself for her drowning which made it hard on the Bride to be as she got to know them. A must read for those who enjoy historical western romance kindle books from at a special price and from a delightful author who keeps me entertained throughout the entire book before putting it down. A great book.
Welcome back to Cutter's Creek. Join Caleb, Audrey, Beatrice and Daisy as they try to make them all a family after so much tragedy has changed all their lives. This stories let's you know that patience and prayer will make everything turn out for the very best for everyone involved. This is a wonderful addition to the Cutter's Creek series. Happy Reading💕💕💕
I read so many novels about Cutter's Creek that I believe I belong there. The stories are so "actual" even if Cutter' s Creek is fictional ... where I want to move. The way people live, work, fall in love, just the way I would like to live.Thank you Annie Boone for the good reading.
This story is mostly monotone. It is without emotion until the end. Toward the middle of the book, there are 3 rushed chapters that make the flow of the story choppy. It also needs some editing. The essence of the story is sweet & family oriented, but it is lacking development.
New Beginning’s ( Cutter’s Creek - Book 3 )By: Annie BooneNew Beginning’s is book three in Cutter’s Creek. These books can be read as a stand -alone. I really enjoyed stories by Annie Boone, she does not disappoint me. She has me hooked right at the start . Her stories are well written , and you have no problem following the story or the characters. This is Audrey and Caleb’s story . Both have lost their spouses and both have a small child to raise. Audrey is in Boston and don’t know what she is going to do. Caleb is in Cutter’s Creek, Montana. Neither is ready to get married again. Marry for convenience only, will this work out? I laughed several times while reading New Beginning’s . You just want to sit Audrey and Caleb down and give them a long talk . Sometimes we don’t see a good thing when it is right under our nose.I was given a copy of this book by the author for my honest review.
Audrey is a widow with a young child that is on the verge of losing her home. Her mother who lives with her has decided that she should look at becoming a mail order bride and has circled some ads in the paper for her daughter to look at. Audrey decided that if she was going to choose one it was going to be one of her own choice. She decided on Caleb as it didn’t seem he wanted a marriage of love. Which suited Audrey just perfectly however Audrey couldn’t predicate matters of the heart.Caleb had a young daughter that needed a mother figure. Grieving years later for his deceased wife, Caleb finally listens to his sister and looks at a mail order bride to give his daughter what she needs. However, he was not going into the marriage for love; it would be a marriage of convenience for both. Little did Caleb know that you can’t determine the feelings of the heart. This was such a clean and sweet romance. It shows you that even through heartache and fighting against the heart that love can overcome the battles and give you a life that you deserve. The struggles and fights made the relationship between Caleb and Audrey stronger and shows that not everything is snowy white perfectness. It takes work and dedication to make a relationship work and to reap the benefits of doing so is rewarding. There were times reading the book that I wanted to cry for the heartaches and yet yell for the silliness of the situations. I thought the premise was unique and the writing was solid. It kept my attention from the beginning to the end.
