This book is very useful for studying many of the images/types/shadows used in the scriptures. Although you won't always agree with the definitions the author uses- even the ones he is dogmatic about, you can still appreciate the value of this book for personal reference and study. There are some minor set backs though, such as the author seems to have forgotten to include a few symbols that you would think he'd include e.g. a trumpet (which is often used in the scriptures as a prophetic warning/judgment/announcement.) Also the author (although interestingly enough) makes what I consider some serious errors. For example, for the number "five" he says: "every chapter number five in the bible contains some story of man's weakness and inability. For example: Gen 5: Although men lived many years, they must eventually die. Exodus 5: God's people in their weakness were crushed under their oppressors..." (p. 166) Clearly, this is him reading into the text something that would not have been found until recent times when we started to label the Bible with chapters and verses as if it were poetry. However, it is interesting nontheless.Overall though, I don't think you'll find many other books that set out to cover as many images/symbols/shadows as this book does, with accompanying verses and descriptions. This is a topic which probably only a handful of books sets out to cover, and Wilson does it well. Every student of the bible should have a copy of this on their bookshelf and I highly suggest you purchase a copy.

I GREW UP WITH A COPY OF THIS BOOK IN MY HOME AND HAVE OFTEN TURNED TO IT IN CONJUNCTION WITH WORD STUDIES IN MY BIBLE. THE INFO FOUND HERE IS DIFFERENT FROM ANY OTHER OFFERED IN STANDARD BIBLE DICTIONARIES AND STUDY GUIDES THAT ONE USUALLY USES; WORDS THAT ONE CAN'T LOOK UP IN THE STANDARD REFERENCES SUCH AS: SPIKENARD, SPICES, HERBS, FLOWERS & TREE TYPES MENTIONED IN THE BIBLE ARE FOUND HERE. THE LAYOUT IS CLEAR AND EASY TO USE. THE ARRANGEMENT OF INFORMATION IS ALWAYS CONCISE AND INCLUDES THE SCRIPTURAL REFERENCE(S).

I have never studied a book like this before. When I am studying the Bible I often look into this book to discover why the writerused that particular idea because it doesn't mean much to me in this century. The author explains what different numbers suggest in the Bible. He not only gives a broad concept of the numbers or ideas but he refers to particular Bible verses and explains what it means in that particular setting. My Bible study has been enhanced over and over because this book helps me think deeper about what a particular passage is saying. It isn't a book to read so much as a reference book to help one better understand what one has read in the Bible.

Not one page of appendix or directory of scripture reference. The words identified throughout the book refer to Scripture, ie. Cinnamon says Exo 30:23, but there is no directory at the book's end cross referencing same. Got it used, paid a lot, have better references.

I have this book for years and very pleased it was available for my device. The book is a guide that teaches you how to approach and understand Bible Types. It is most helpful in providing several verses and how a particular word are used. The author provided many words that you can build on. I didn't expect the author to provide every word I expect to be there. Like trumpet like someone mentioned, however in respect for the author many words can be looked up easily in a biblical concordance with self effort. It is beautifully done and truths are clearly discernable. To further complement the book I think the work invested in creating a tool for the rest of us should be clearly noted as a gift in our spiritual journey. The author made a wonderful contribution and I commend him for his work. Now I have it on my HDX and I am excited to read the whole book again also more accessible then carrying the book itself. Great book, you will gain much from it. Buy it you will be very pleased.

This is not exactly what I expected and seems light on substance in some ways. But it still will be a decent resource on occasion.

As one who spends hours (when available) studying the Bible, I must give this book five stars!!! Using this book as a reference tool will help you easily find yourself wrapped in the love of God through the love of Scripture.
