This book may appear very simple as you start reading it. Then it grabs you and you won't be able to put down until you are done. I read it, not knowing or remembering what the book was about and I think this is the best way to experience this book, as a fairy tale. It is full of sounds, sights, adventures, it transports you to rural Chile at the beginning of the 20th century. I highly recommend this book, not only for children but specially for adults. The author and illustrator have created a beautiful book, worthy of The Poet.
Vivir la niñez de Pablo Neruda es lectura casi mandatoria para los jóvenes adultos que inician su Educación secundaria. Es una liberación del espíritu a pesar de las muy adversas circunstancias en casa y en el entorno.
Este es una historia muy sencilla, no tienen una trama compleja o dramática, pero el estilo narrativo realmente atrapa. Creo que no sólo es un libro para leer, sino para dejarse transformar por él.
I use this book in my classroom. It is an amazing story...poetry...just enchanting. The Spanish is lovely. a must read for Neruda fans!
