Nice board book with padded cover and sweet, simple pictures. Includes 19 rhymes: Star light, star bright; Wee Willie Winkle; Are you sleeping brother John; Jack be nimble; Hush little baby don't say a word; Twinkle twinkle little star; Diddle diddle dumpling; Rock a bye baby; Teddy bear, teddy bear touch your nose; Come let's to bed says Sleep Head; I see the moon and the moon sees me; Red sky at night; Now the day is over; Girls and boys come out to play; Goosey, Goosey, Gander; Hey diddle diddle; Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John; The man in the moon; All through the night. This book measures about 8"x8", which is a good size and is well worth the price.
We had high hopes for this book, but were a little disappointed at some of the rhymes. There's one rhyme that says "there i met an old man. who wouldn't say his prayers. I took him by the left leg. And threw him down the stairs." We don't ever read that one to our daughter.
We have a LOT of nursery rhyme books, and this and it's companion are some favorites. It is a board book, so it is more durable for kids who may not be so gentle, and it has nice illustrations and a good selection of rhymes. It is a good length, not as short as some, but not too long to read the whole book at one time. If you buy this, you will not be disappointed!
I received this as a shower gift and am now purchasing it for a friend who just had a baby. My daughter who is 8 months old loves it and I enjoy the Nursery Rhymes as well! The book is perfect as it has one or two rhymes per page and her attention span is still very short. She also likes to chew on the book so it is great that it is sturdy. We read from it everyday.
I bought this as a shower gift for my brother-in-law and then had to purchase it once I became pregnant. Now my son is 6 months old and he enjoys the various rhymes and songs in it as well as the pictures.
I absolutely LOVE this book (received it as a present and have bought it as a present for other kids). It's a sturdy plastic cover with good quality board book paper.Although there are a lot of christian rhymes and songs(and I'm not christian) they're all very good. Many of which I knew and a few I have never heard of. I highly recommend this for anyone for newborn babies and toddlers- Hush little baby- Twinkle twinkle- Rock a bye baby- Jack be Nimble
The book is well illustrated and durable. Since you can't preview the book before buying, I was not aware of how many religious rhymes there are. There are several throughout the book. I would have gone with a more secular book had I known. If that is not an issue for you however, then it should be rated higher.
Great book! Begin reading to your baby right away. Rhyming words are the first step in learning to read. Be sure to read and sing the nursery rhymes to your child all the time. I am a retired teacher and I know it makes a big difference!
