My initial attraction to this series centered on the alternate Supergirl, but Marguerite Bennett being signed to write it got all of my attention, as it promised an interesting tension between the cheesecake of the designs and Bennett's skills as a writer. That promise bore out, as the characters all have interesting voices, each distinctive, and the 1940s designs are clever, and often amusing (the change thing on John Constantine is the gift that keeps on giving) and often a surprise -- this might well have my favorite versions of Amanda Waller and Mera. The artwork is variable, but generally pretty (and occasionally incorrect in vehicle depiction) and the book as a whole an enjoyable read.
The bombshell's stories continue- written with a distinctive slant to the sacrifices of women in war time. Can't wait to see what comes next!!
