I absolutely loved this book with all my heart. It is about a tweve year old girl who meets a friendly homeless man. They become good friends and as Chloe understands him through their friendsip se realises he isnt all just a silly old tramp but indeed much more...There was so much emotion in this book at one stage I was laughing my socks off and yet towards the end I cried!!!!!! I honestly thought I could smell Mr Stinks smell through the pages and found Chloes mothers ideas ridiculous but still terribly humourous. This book brings a joy to anyones face of any age and i say thank you to David Walliams yet another masterpiece!!!Hannah 12xoxoxoxoxo

This was a great book because it was a very funny, touching, and had an excellent plot. It was hysterical throughout the story and moving at the end. It has some bathroom humor in it which most kids would find very funny and I found hilarious. I enjoyed reading about the friendship between Mr. Stink and the other main character, Chloe. I also enjoyed reading about what they talked about to each other because not only did they talk about funny things, there was a friendship between the two characters which I enjoyed. My mom also found this book humorous and funny. It also had the best ending.

Bought this as a gift, but had to read it first, after seeing the BBC movie. Really cute story, reminds me of Roald Dahl's work. Very British humour, good for kids who "feel different". I'm planning to get another copy and read it to my students at school.

My son LOVES all David Walliams books and reads them from start to finish!! This one I actually read also, and these books are so intriguing with such great story lines and strong messages, it's easy to see why my son reads these with no breaks!

This is a similar read to Gangsta Granny, by the same author, which I preferred. Only this one is a tale about a girl, and instead of a relative she is spending time with a dirty old tramp. Mr Stink as everyone calls him, smells bad and has a small smelly dog, but is harmless and sits on the park bench every day. We see that the young girl's home life and school life is quite miserable, which is why she feels unwanted and friendless, much like the tramp in fact. This leads to some amusing adventures and even a visit to a TV studio. There is a warning not to talk to strangers or get into cars, but at the same time we see that homeless people are people who appreciate kindness and may have had bad fortune in life. The antiheroine of the tale is in fact the politically ambitious, social climbing mother, more so as she makes much of one daughter and forgets the other, while even her kind husband is reluctant to tell her about his problems.I was an early reader and by four I had learned from books that boys got to go out, travel and have adventures but girls had to stay in and keep house. Therefore I decided I was going to act like a boy, because they clearly had the better deal. In Gangsta Granny we see a boy who gets to plan and carry out a raid on the Crown Jewels in the Tower of London. In Mr Stink we see a girl who cooks sausages, runs a bath, invites a tramp to make a home in the shed and cooks him breakfast. Plus ca change, plus ca meme chose.

This book is about a 12 year old girl called Chloe, who meets a homeless really really stinky man, whom everyone calls Mr. Stink.Mr. Stink only had a bath last year, and if you go near to him, the smell will creep up your nose (like a living creature) then, burn your throat. Mr. Stink gets a delight in his life, something special. You will find out about the relationships in this lovely story. My favourite character is Chloe because she is very kind and helpful. You will like this book if you like funny books. This book is recommended for 7 to 11 year olds. You will be amazed!

The book is not only extremely funny (my 7 year old son has been reduced to hysterics by some bits), but also sensitively deals with issues like bullying, poor self esteem, the importance of being yourself, and judging others which has provoked some really positive discussions between my son and I. This is children's books at its best.Highly recommended.

This brilliant story is well written and the illustrations Quentin Blake are funny. I readthis to my 6 year old daughter, in less than a week, and she wants me to read it again. Have also read Gansta Granny by David Walliams, he is a wonderful children's story teller
