The five Sharp sisters were going to have to step up their game and start looking like the Brady Bunch. Their dad, Stanley, was a mayoral candidate in Charlotte and things would have to change. Lou, her dad’s campaign manager, was “pushing [them] to appear perfect.” It wasn’t all that hard, but the real change in store for them was the fact that they were going to be heading to public school. There had been a school scandal and private school was no longer an option. Shelby Grace Sharp and sisters were now on everyone’s radar and they had to look and act the part of a mayoral candidate’s kids. The Sharps were both attorneys and their family life was decent. No skeletons in their closets. Shelby really wanted to be a fashion designer, but her couldn’t see it and wanted her to practice with her. With the new school and the campaign it looked like she’d have to put aside her creations for a while. She’d designed a really cool ‘scart,’ a combination belt and scarf. Shelby had even spotted a really hot guy she could fall for, but was totally humiliated when Spencer turned out to the the stepson of Mr. Brown, her father’s opponent.Things got even more creepy when she’d overheard someone talking on their phone in the bathroom. “If he hits me one more time, I might kill him!” Those glitzy heels she’d spotted belonged to none other than Mrs. Brown, Spencer’s mom. Shelby hadn’t ever known anyone who was a victim of domestic violence, but it wasn’t long before she’d encounter more. It was even happening in the halls of Marks High School and her big chance at having a fashion designer mentorship was overshadowed by it as well. Shelby Grace thought to herself that “I’d been quiet about domestic violence for too long.
