I used this book for homeschooling and liked it. The lessons are brief and leave appropriate room for the parent to give more instruction on the topic. There are reward stickers to help keep you on track. Also, the progression of information is good.
We love the DK workbooks. We have the PK, K and 1st for spelling and they are really good to start at PK level and work your way up. It starts with just basic phonics and then works into beginning spelling, so you can put the sounding out part and the writing/spelling part together. We homeschool and these workbooks are affordable and thorough for us to use without adding a huge amount. I could never find a phonics curriculum that I liked and was happy with but these workbooks do the job for us. Of course, I use each page as a lesson to also has the whiteboard to show my boys examples and such. The books are sturdy and they have glossy like pages that are minus all the colors that sometime distract kids. The whole line of DK workbooks are great, as we've purchased several different ones over the years.
The reward system, is a star sticker for EVERY SINGLE PAGE THAT HAS BEEN FINISHED! Cheapens the "reward system" IMHO. Great content though, just not enough repetition/practicing of each concept.
Best workbooks ever.. My grandaughter is home schooled and looks foward to the days she gets to use any of these books.
