A great atlas to use as reference. Not much in the way of commentary, but a number of very detailed maps with a thorough index in the back. The color maps are also topographic maps, so they don't copy well unless you have a hi-res copier. There are also a number of small inset photos of archaeological sites or artifacts that help to place the map in historical context. A ready reference for my study!
I took a course in the history of Jerusalem. This book was bundled with the required book so I actually acquired it on accident. It turned out to be a really great book. Maps from ancient time periods can be a real pain to find. Finding secular sources is even more difficult. Definately glad I ended up with it.
For almost 53 years I have been a student of the Bible, and have traveled to the Bible Lands.However, all the Bibles seem to fall short of giving certaub locations in a way that is understandable.This is an excellent tool for a casual or serious student of the Bible, and can be used as a teaching tool because the colors are vivid and the maps large.I had the opportunity to buy a used book, but I do not want something with someone else's notes, so opted for the new one on .com, and am glad I did.
Very useful and simple to use. I bought it used and there were no issues whatsoever. I like that the older maps are grouped and then the newer and it is easy to figure out what you're looking at.
