My niece is a teacher in Arkansas. Her 1st grade class is sorely lacking in enjoyable books for afternoon reading. I purchased every 'Tacky' title available on and sent them down to her. I figured penguins in Arkansas would be a novelty for the kids, and they LOVED it!! I made sure that the Tacky's Christmas book arrived just before Christmas break!The 1st graders love Tacky and his crazy adventures; he's always faced w a perplexing problem, but seems to make the right (sometimes tough) choice to solve it. Good lessons for children!
Can't say enough how much my eighteen month old to nine year old grandchildren love this book! Great story, good art and Tacky is an endearing, timeless character. CD in the back is what made me decide on this edition. :)
I've been a Tacky the Penguin lover for years and they're my favorite young children's book. This one is a fun story about Christmas (if you couldn't tell by the title), and it comes with a CD of Tacky's favorite carols, which are hilarious. Another Tacky favorite!
I have purchased several Tacky the Penguin books for my grandson and he loves them. He is 5 and the librarian at the school said that she has the series in the school library and uses them for a lot of her readings,projects and events for the children.
I read Helen Lester's Tacky books to my second-grade students every school year. And the children absolutely LOVE Tacky! I was super happy to find this book on , as I certainly had not seen it anywhere else.
this book was for a 5 year old, and he LOVES TACKY. it is funny and it helps the kids understand that there is more than one wary to do things. The quality of the books is very good. The hard cover will last for a loooong time, and it also helps with keeping the pages steady while reading in bed.
Every time I read a Tacky book my students just sit so quietly that you really could hear a pin drop! They love Tacky! This is a new one for my collection, but I thought it was so great I had the library add it to their collection too!
My second grade class' mascot is the penguin. They love reading all about penguins, and REALLY love Tacky. We were excited to see the Christmas book released. It arrived in excellent condition and right on time. Hooray!!!
