Works. Passed my certification. Some of the chapters are repetitive and some of the questions are poorly written, but then again so are the questions on the actual test.

This is a fantastic book. Very easy to read and very informative. It makes most concepts so simple that I almost couldn't believe that it was informative enough. However, after going through the review sets from the internet (Quizlet), I realized how much I actually learned. To be fair though, I recently took and passed the Network+ Exam, which does cover a fair amount of security concepts. The PDF version of the book that comes with it is also very useful, in that I can take it on the go with my tablet and not need to carry a book around. I haven't tried the practice exams that came with the book. After reading [most of] this textbook, I'm both very excited and very confident about the exam!

So it took me two tries to pass. For the first try, I just studied Darril Gibson's books and thought I would be good. Wrong! So went back to the drawing board and bought this book through Kindle App. I knew two chapters in that this book was exceptionally written. So I read the whole thing in a day, took the practice exam, and retook the Security + exam three days after the first one and I passed. Actually raised my score by about 150 points. So I thank the authors of this book for putting together such a relevant and well written piece.

I read this book plus used professor messer videos and study guide and passed on the first go. However I do not feel like it adequately prepares you for the test, do not use this as your only study method. I can tell you this much, just knowing what the encryption/hash protocols are is not sufficient you need to know the pros/cons between them and this book does not give you that information at all.

Yesss super excited I found this book for my class, and at a very low price! Thank you so much! The book is perfect, nice and clean. I used it as soon as it got here as I needed to start reading for my class, and get school work done. I for it to be delivered on the next day because I didn't want to waist time not getting my things done for my class. I like to things on time.Thank you!

Lots of editing issues. Sections and subsections often refer to concepts introduced in a following section (e.g. a section on types of clouds discusses public clouds, private clouds, hybrid clouds (which it defines as a mix of public, private, and community clouds), and then explains community clouds. Topics are often split oddly among chapters. Some more obscure terms aren't explained while common ones are. I wouldn't recommend the book unless the person has a decent grounding in all of the book's topics already--which kind of defeats the purpose of getting a study book.

This book is a 30,000 foot review of Security+ concepts written by a couple of PhDs and three other guys. It has no connection with Mike Meyers except the “All-in-One” branding. If you are new to Security+, this is probably not the book for you. The only help for the exam you'll find here is the Total Tester Software, which I like. There is no other supplemental info on taking the exam. Go read the forums at techexams.net and professormesser.com to see what has worked for other people who have passed the exam.If you don't read at a college level you will find it difficult to read. Here's an example, exactly as written in the book:“Unfortu-nately, all code has weaknesses and vulnerabilities, so instantiating the code in a mannerthat has effective defenses preventing the exploitation of vulnerabilities can maintaina desired level of security.”It presupposes that you have some exposure to programming. There are several glaring editing issues, notably the section on VLANs, which had exactly one paragraph, then had a captive portal section injected. The remainder of the info on VLANs was missing. McGraw Hill hasn't bothered to provide errata for this book. My email to them requesting errata for Mike Meyer's All-in-One Network+ book has, to date, gone unanswered. The book also introduces topics without then defining them. Occasionally, the definition is in another part of the book. The index is small for a book this size, and is not very helpful in finding those missing definitions. I did find a couple of errors in the review questions, referring to something not covered in the text. Overall the review questions are excellent in ensuring you have a good grasp of the chapter contents.I ditched this book after struggling through 17 chapters and went to Darril Gibson's book which is more readable, includes test exams and is more directed toward exam prep.

So far I am really enjoying using this as my Go To study material for preparing for the CompTIA certification. It is easy to understand and broken down into digestible sections with helpful review questions. Have yet to use the included CD material but so far I am very confident that this will prepare me for the certification exam.
