I have been anxiously awaiting this book for more than a year, and the wait was work it! The artwork and engineering is bright and imaginative.The ark unfolds before your eyes, the gangplank lowers and the water rises!!! At the end the the ark has landed on dry land and a transparent rainbow embodies God's promise. His best work yet!
I give it five stars although in truth it is just bit short of total excellence. I think it is one or two pages shy of providing full satisfaction. Otherwise, the artwork is colorful, nicely done with white border. The popups are complex and work well. Speaking as a collector and not as consumer, I can indeed recommend this book with pleasure.
I bought this book to add to my collection of pop-ups but I also thought it would be a splendid show and tell for children in church school and my grandchildren. The book captivates them and they can't wait for me to turn to the next page. It brings to life Noah's ark. I highly recommend this book.
This book is one of the oldest pop-up books by Matthew Reinhart a paper engineer. This book had been stored in a compressed condition for sometime when I received it, so some of the pop-upness of the book was flattened. Beautiful story of a classic Biblical tale.
I have to admit, we rarely buy books... we usually get them from the library. This book is definitely one that you want on your shelves permanently!! It brings the story to life, and is a great way for inquisitive little minds to get into the story. You feel as if you can step onto the pages and into the boat! It captivates the mind and curiosity of our three year old, and she just loves it! The pop-ups are truly amazing, and the fold outs add more to each page. It's well written, and great for the kids. Wish they had these when we were little! I am giving this to our 2 and 3 year old cousins as well- this makes a great gift. A definite hit!
We have the Cinderella book by Matthew Reinhart and decided to ordered The Ark for a friend's daughter for her second birthday. She absolutely loved it. These won't stand up to really young kids pulling at the pop ups, but older toddlers will enjoy these type of books. The Cinderella book is out of reach from our 18 month old, otherwise it would be in rough shape.
Every Reinhart pop-up book is wonderful. That last one is also splendid.
