If you go to public school, or have to deal with a lot of peer pressure, this is great. Most of the topics deal with sex and peer pressure. If you are already committed to purity, and don't deal with peer pressure (i.e. homeschooled), this isn't very good.
I bought this book for my 15 year old son to study on his own, while at the same time buying Josh McDowells Family Devotional 2 (which was almost as disappointing as Family Devotional 1 was excellent) for our family devotional. FD2 was a huge disappointment, so we started using this book for family devotions, and have found it to be an excellent book for that purpose. The readings are easy to understand and apply and the questions are simple yet thought provoking. If you are looking for a book that can do double duty as a teen devotional and a family devotional, I recommend this book.
This devotional was great. It addressed important issues in a teen's life and used good illustrations and stories to make concepts clear. The Bible, as it should be, was present in each devotion. I highly recommend this.
This is the first devotional book that my 11-year-old has enjoyed. He actually looks forward to reading it each day. He's a typical spongebob-watching, mp3-listening, psp-playing pre-teen, so a Christian devotional book holding his attention like this is a Godsend. Highly recommended!
I've tried a lot of different youth devotionals. This is the first one that I've ever been able to stick with. I'll probably never use another book again--it's that great (aside from the Bible, that is!).
I like the devotional; however, it seems to be more geared toward younger children (7-11). My daughters are a little older and some of the devotional stories were a bit "kiddish" and it didn't touch home with them.
Josh McDowell has done it again! This is the second devotions book we have done with our kids. They are teens and need to see how God's Word is relevant to them. This book does just that. In about 7 minutes a day, there are Scriptures to read, a story or devotional thought, then thought provoking questions, and even a sample prayer. I recommend this book for any parent to use with his/her teen. It can also be used by a teen to do personal devotions, and to be honest, it has also challenged me as an adult. If you're looking for a book that will challenge you to live more for the Lord Jesus, this book is for you.
This devotional is absolutely wonderful in using circumstances that teens relate to in order to illustrate a concept found in God's word. I encourage all Christian teens to get this book! It is really wonderful in encouraging your faith!
