When my boys were young and My wife and I were newly born Christians, we purchased these two books. They were loved by our children more than anything else we provided for their Christian growth. Those two books have since disappeared from my library and I am so glad to have found one and I will keep looking for the other. I want them for my Grandchildren and friends. I want them for myself as well! I have never found another pair of books with a short story and devotional thought for each day that fits in so well with a childs everyday living and learning experience. Everyone can relate to each story. Excellent.

This little jewel is a classic. It makes it easy for children up to about age 11 or so to learn moral truths to live by. We like to read it at supper time when the children first start to eat. It is quite at our table then and the reading is less likely to be interrupted. It is amazing to see them respond to the questions after the reading. Even our little 4 year old gets "the moral of the story." I am going to go broke buying this book for our friends.

This is a wonderful tool for parents who are trying to find a way to reach their children during family devotions. Each story begins with a theme Bible verse, and then presents a story involving children and their parents related to the Bible passage. Afterward, there is a series of questions so that you can discuss the story with your children. For older children there is an extended Bible reading listed. Finally there is a concluding prayer. Not only will this help involve your children in family devotions, but the questions also help to develop listening skills. These benefits flow into church on Sunday morning. I highly recommend this book for anyone trying to involve their children in family devotions.

I'm 34 years old. This book was given to me when I was 8. It served as the backstop against all of the angst, fear, anger and confusion of pre-pubescent existence. When "bobby" threw a rock at me, I turned to this book. When "jenny" didn't return my affection, I turned to this book. When "Joey" violated my trust, I turned to this book. Nothing can bridge the gap between the teachings of Jesus and the adolocent existence. My dear people, if you do anything for your children , do buy this book. Give it to them. And let them use it as they will - with God's help. Surely, you will benefit.

We had a copy of this when I was a little girl. When my daughter was old enough I asked my Mom for it but she would not give it up. It is age appropriate, fresh, to the point and scriptural. Tonight's story about dirty hands was just perfect for my six year old. I came to .com to get a copy of my own. We are going to read it every night.

My parents read this same book to me and my sisters when we were children (the 1970's version). I bought it for my boys who are 5 and 3. We read one story every night at dinner and discuss the questions at the end. It has wonderful everyday life circumstances that they can relate to. They actually remind me on the nights I forget. I never thought I would hear my children say "Mom, can we do our bible lesson". I recommend this book to anyone with children!!!

We've been working through this book for a couple of months as part of our nightly family time before bed. The children love it. The stories are down to earth and relatable to them. Throughout our days we often refer back to the children in the stories and it integrates the concepts into their real lives. We have the children repeat the verse after us (most of the time we read the scripture directly from tbe bible because it will only be a partial verse or half thought) then mom or dad read the lesson, then we talk about it, and finally pray. We sometimes follow the prayer written in the book, but we usually say our own prayer. It is useful for children reading it on their own to practice a devotion, also.I do have a problem with the devotion on page 68, entitled Greiving the Holy Spirit. Here, the author says that the Holy Spirit will eventually leave us if we continue in sin, thus losing our salvation. This is a lie! Nothing can separate us from our Father's love, Romans 8!However, some of the other passages have been very life-giving to our children, especially the first devotion, Why We Can Always Be Happy, illustrating recieving forgiveness.Overall, I would suggest this book for those parents with a level of discernment and scriptural knowledge that can modify or skip bad devotions or prayers as needed, like page 68. I will continue to use this book because we are able to do this confidently. As for the book structurally, it is very well made. The cover has a nice matte texture and is pleasing to hold. It's bound well and sturdy. Paper and print is good quality. There's a heavy duty ribbed ribbon place holder. It's just the right size. I wish more books look and feel and are as pleasing to hold and read from and this one.

My mother read to me from Little Visits back in the 70's, and the familiar morality stories have been updated but retain the same lessons. My boys, ages 5 & 7, both enjoy a "little visit" every night in addition to our regular reading. This is a nice way to help reinforce values of kindness, responsibility, and the golden rule without being heavy-handed.
