Why the sixth grade book when I teach seventh? I just want to check the understanding and retention after the summer's vacation. In an environment where every one passes to the next grade, this will help to determine the deficits and misunderstandings that need to be addressed to build a better foundation for the year's lesson and achievement.
What a great resource for teachers that are preparing their students for a state test. The book is very easy to use and kid-friendly. I like how each chapter starts with a review of the concept with examples. The text boxes labeled VIP-very important point, and Words to Remember were especially helpful. Overall, a great way to get your students ready for the Grade 6 Math Test, Happy Practicing!
Like all Barron's books, this one provides a concise list of topics that covers the NYS 6th grade math curriculum very thoroughly. This book does a particularly good job of providing explanations that are easy to understand. I think 6th grade students at all achievement levels would benefit from using this book. Only four stars though because after all it is a review book, not a novel :)!

I used the previous edition last year as a study aid for my son and was impressed with the clear presentation and comprehensive coverage of the material. I recently bought the new edition for my daughter who will be preparing for the test this year.
This book was a great resource to utilize when preparing my son for the 6th grade test. It was user friendly and contained practice tests for the students. I will use this book again for my daughter next year.
I really loved the two full-length practice tests. These tests helped my daughter prepare for the test. My daughter also used the problem-solving strategies provided in the book.
