This journal is truly amazing. What a wonderful way for a kiddo to capture memories about him/herself!Things I love about the journal:1. The writing prompts - each page has a well thought out prompt to get the kid to write about something different. Examples include: Things I'm going to build, Food I love, Things I do each day, If I were the family cook. The pages have great text font and a variety of different designs.2. The book really is a time capsule - it is meant to be hidden! When the kid finishes the journal, he/she draws a map on the last page and actually hides the book! What a creative idea! I wish that I had this journal when I was a kid - I would love to see what I would have written.3. The quality of the book - the cover is matte, but feels very smooth. I love the size, design and cover colors. The book is printed in the USA.4. I will be buying several copies of the journal to give to kids I know. What a great birthday or Christmas present!
I love this kid's journal! I gave a few of these journals as gifts because I think they do a great job making journaling fun. The writing prompts are great and approachable, and the "time capsule" theme is a lot of fun. The author clearly has a great creative mind and is passionate about helping kids record their stories.I wish I'd used something like this when I was a kid.I noticed one reviewer said it wasn't gender neutral or girly enough - but I respectfully disagree. As a mom of a toddler girl, I often wish there were more kids items that veered away from the girly stereotype. I hope that my daughter can enjoy using one of these in a few years, to spark her creative, wild, and adventurous - and dare I say tomboy? - side. All in all, a great product!
My two boys (9&7) are not too into writing and they couldn't put these down!!! I bought one for each of them and I could barely pull them away to do their other homeschool work! They even asked if they could bring them shopping with their Grandma! Seriously recommend!
This is an AWESOME children's journal with Narrative Writing Prompts to inspire ideas and expand the imaginations of the little ones.Perfect for parent child bonding and development. Parents can have fun assisting and encouraging children while they learn or improve with reading, writing and expressing their ideas while developing their own imagination and stories. What a great concept and opportunity for every young family. One of the best features is it promotes parent child interaction without the distraction of electronic devices.AND.... there is no violence or negative stimulus to throw the child's development off-track.I applaud the author.
This is a really thoughtful journal full of activities and writing prompts designed just for your kiddo! I love it! When I was a kid we did something like this in school, and I not only loved the project, but I love looking back on it too. I bet your kiddo will too.It has a good mix of questions, identifying info for your child, spots for pictures, etc. There is a good mix. I can see this easily turning into a number of days full of projects for a kid.Another reviewer mentions that it looks like it is for a boy, and I really don't think it's that gendered. I think it could easily be for a girl or a boy. (I mean, girls can be pirates....right?)Really thoughtful, well-made, fun journal. Would be a great gift!
My son of 9 has this journal and we are both having lots of fun with it! So far he's drawn himself as a pirate, learnt why we named him how we did and he's had a good think about his characteristics. The journal is a great conversation starter about random things with your children, a fantastic way for my son to calm his mind - and have fun with his imagination. It's also been a useful tool to teach him that there is no right and wrong answer when it comes to how you view your world and yourself - so writing in his journal is building his self confidence too. It's so much fun watching him engrossed in the prompts. What I also love about this book is that I know for sure one day, in years to come, we'll look back through all the writing prompts, pictures he's drawn and thoughts he's captured and be captivated - a piece of family history in the making! As soon as my other two sons can write they'll both be getting one of these too - it's something every kid should own!!
Great journal for kids! Depending on their level of reading and writing it could be filled out all on their own or as a fun activity with a parent. The story about how the author got her inspiration for the title and for her love of journaling is in the first few pages and it's lovely! It made me get out my journals from childhood and reminisce. This is a great way to get your kids into a great activity that will last a lifetime.
If you have ever had random thoughts of what it would be like to be... Then the next moment, life passes, the previous thought becomes a distant past, sometimes forgotten, memory. This journal captures each of those moments, like a time capsule. This book is great for the imaginative child who needs a little prompting to get their thoughts down on paper. It certainly gets the brain churning. The added bonus of putting in pictures, drawings, writings, makes this journal unique and fun. I plan on buying this book for my daughters when they come of the right age, and my niece who is taking after her grandmother's own writing heart.
