Charlotte Ritchie has kept her secret of the affair she had with her professor in college and was devastated after two years with him to find out he was married the whole time. She tells Mia about in the plane going to Africa to witness the wedding of Logan and Rachael. She never expected that she would fall in love with Cub Rachael's brother. This is another great book in this series of the Hunt family. I cannot wait until book number four is available, I have really enjoyed this author's books.
I read this book last night and was up till 3:30 in the morning finishing it and I absolutely loved it! I'm honestly thinking of just rereading it already just because it was such a cute, sweet and charming love story that didn't have any unnecessary angst and drama, thank goodness! I loved Cub and Charlotte and was happy that we got to revisit with Rachel and Logan. I can't wait for the next in this series and I'm especially excited to see what she has in store for Evan's story.
Absolutely in love with this series and these characters! This was phenomenal!!! I laughed and cried and read it straight through and tried not to wake my husband up! Thanks for writing such wonderful, feel good and inspirational stories!!!!!!!
This book was absolutely fantastic!!! I both laughed and bawled like a big baby though this whole book, and sometimes I even did both at the same time. I can totally relate to how hard it would be to up and move to the opposite side of the world, leaving everyone and everything you knew behind. So while I knew they both had very valid reasons for not wanting to make the move, it tore my heart out watching these two people who were in love, have to say their heart-wrenching final goodbyes. Cub giving up Tess to Charlotte....let's just say there were many, many tears shed on that part of the story. But then in a way, it wasn't really such a surprise, especially after the way Cub was able to zero in on Charlotte and noticing the pain that still linguring in her eyes, the very first day they met.I love the fact that we were able to learn more about the rescue center in Kenya, and it's inner-workings. Takes very special people with heart of gold to sacrifice their own lives, in order to give these precious kids a better life. I was so happy that we got to revisit with Rachel and Logan, I just wished we could have gotten to re-visit Paige, Cody, and little Ryan, too. I also thought we'd get to see more of Mia and Dee-Dee on this trip then we did, but hopfully we'll get to see more of all these characters in upcoming books. Maybe in the next family vacation trip to Myrtle Beach, maybe? The one character that really has me curious about, though, is Evan. I think he has a lot of hidden secrets of his own to tell.I'll try to sit back and wait patiently for the next installment in ths series, but it won't be easy...that's for sure!
I have read most of this author's books but this one is probably my favorite. It's funny, romantic and shows we all have instances in our lives where we make bad decisions but God loves to redeem us. I have been to Kenya and the book is very true to my experiences there. You won't regret reading this.
California Calling is book three in the Hunt Family series by Brooke St. James.Almost the entire Hunt family is on their way to Africa to visit Rachel’s parents at their missionary base in Kenya. While there, they are to witness the marriage of Rachel to Logan Ritchie, a movie star and son of Dee-Dee Hunt’s daughter Denise. Denise and her family had moved to California when Logan went into the movies. They did travel to Charlotte for the yearly Hunt family beach vacation so Logan and Charlotte, his sister, knew their cousins very well. Thus, most of the cousins were on their way to celebrate another wedding in the family.Charlotte was having a nightmare and woke up her cousin Mia who was sitting with her. Mia got her to confess about an affair she had in college which was still bothering her. Mia calmed her down and almost convinced her that it wasn’t her fault and not to dwell on it any more. She should find someone else and at least have a fling with him to get back in the game. Charlotte decided she would try when she got home.Mia, Charlotte, and Evan were delegated to spend their nights with Rachel’s brother Cub. He had his own place away from the mission compound. He was a carpenter and also helped his parents. He was totally at home in Africa and had no plans to leave as his sister had done. He was devastatingly handsome and he took Charlotte’s breath away. What was happening to her? She was only here for a week and she knew she would never want to live in such an isolated place and so far from her family. The two had to stay away from each other. Could they? It would be a relationship doomed to fail due to distance.
Brooke St.James does not disappoint in this precious love story. Charlotte and Cub 's story is such a sweet love at first site story. It is WONDERFUL how she weaves in love, forgiveness mercy and Grace in this story and all stories. Thank you and I can't wait to see who is next, Evan or Mia
I absolutely LOVE Brooke St. James' books. I have read them all. I'm very much enjoying this longer series where we get a brief glimpse of what is happening with past characters. The characters are well developed and I cannot wait for Book 4 in the Hunt Family Series.
