This is a great addition to any curriculum, especially if you are worried about not covering enough language arts. These lessons are only 5-10 minutes, and the answers are in the beginning of each chapter, so you do not need a teacher's guide. This is just a small 'bite' of what they need to know, but helps to enforce ideas that other curriculum may miss. It's also a small enough lesson that my boys don't dread it. The only real downside, is that you really do need an extra curriculum, so this is only meant to supplement, not stand on it's own.
Never felt like I truly knew how to teach writing before, but NOW!!! The kids love it! My colleagues and I love it!! My principal loves it!! Whole building is looking into it for all grade levels! My wife even bought the 2nd grade version!!! It's a MUST HAVE!!!
I have been using this with my 2nd graders for the past few weeks. I really like it so far. It works well for activities to do together as a class, but I wouldn't be able to use this much for independent work. The reading level is a bit too high for most of my students.
I really love this daily 6 trait writing. My son does not love writing, but this is short and sweet. it's just enough to get him started, and often times he will elaborate beyond what is requested in the text on his own. i think this book's requests are simple enough that he doesn't feel overwhelmed and has taken more of an interest into writing.I am a fan of this style and am happy with this purchase. I would definitely recommend this book for kids who aren't very interested in writing or need an introduction to writing.
This was for a second grade classroom. I liked the lessons and the review of previously covered material to continue to build upon the skills being learned.
Nicely mapped out for daily use and assessment. Easy to use. Only draw back---have to copy everything needed. Would be nice if there was a student version. Would also be nice if instructional standards were listed.
This book's activities are perfect for the classroom. They are easily used and/or modified to fit individual needs. I will use this again and again!
