I've tried many different series of workbooks for our 6 homeschooled kids. For grammar, I think I've found a new favorite. Challenging assignments, enough repetition to get them comfortable with the topic, but not so much overkill that it gets soul-killing (well, okay, it *is* grammar, so soul-killing is kinda baked into the cake). I haven't found any mistakes or difficult to interpret instructions.
The language used in the text was a little advanced for 7-8 grade reading level. The lesson subjects are not explained very well and require teacher lesson and explanation prior so the student understands how to do the lessons. Good supplemental with other grammar lessons,.
I don't have any problems with these books and they are actually good practice tools for his grade level and the answer keys are available.
I teach in a 6-8 multigrade classroom and after 6th grade, grammar becomes slightly muddled and seems to be phasing out (in some classrooms). I wanted to be able to still give my 7th and 8th graders a good grammar foundation that would help any of their writing papers be free of simple grammatical errors. This book works great, but more practice on the concepts is necessary.
really wanted something a little more challenging for my home schooled eighth grader...however it still covers the basics...so overall a good buy
I remember the short reading comprehension lessons I use to do in school so I tried this for my 7th grade homeschooling son. Lessons have been good and the all important answers in the back are helpful. Did come across poetry lessons, not a big priority with me, so I skipped them.
I use this resource for my 7th grader to have extra practice and review of gammar concepts. She is learning how to write academically so this has been of great use for extra practice on some of the grammar and senctence structure concepts.
This is a perfect book of grammar worksheets for my middle schoolers. The work is thorough and covers many topics. It's probably the best book of worksheets I've come across in 10 years of teaching.
