This is such an incredible Bible study, and I love the accompanying videos available at Lifeway. Raechel Myers & Amanda Bible Williams are wonderful, talented writers, and write in a beautiful way that makes you feel they are present---they are leading a study and welcome you with open arms. Regardless of where you are in your faith or understanding of theology, they passionately and effectively argue that the Bible is for you....and it's enough. While they cut through any excuse, without hesitation, for neglecting Bible study, they also lovingly remind you that you are not alone in your struggles and there is a community of believers who care for you. In addition to the guidance provided in the book, they direct you to a supporting community at She Reads Truth. I highly recommend this book.
While this book certainly has a Pinteresty appeal with its graphics and fonts, it was quite lacking in correctly handling the Word of God. Clearly written for women, at one point the writers make the claim that the Holy Spirit's work of regenerating and renewing our minds is akin to having a good face care regimine. A whole section is devoted to talking about the importance of learning to read the Scripture in context, yet proof texts Scripture throughout the entire chapter without actually showing how to study verses in context. There are lots of references to God's promises that are for us for right now without a clear understanding of promises that were actually for the Israelites under the Mosaic covenant or conditional promises that require obedience to certain requirements or even principles found in Proverb put forth as promises. I was very disappointed with this study and the lack of true Biblical discernment the writers showed.
I loved this bible study. I had been needing to dive back into my word. This was a great tool to help me get back on track. I was interested in doing the study everyday. Each day was manageable unlike some other studies I have done. I have four kids so I needed something I could realistically do.
I'm still working through this study with a group of women, but it has been amazing. I have learned a lot about Scripture and also some things about myself that I didn't know. I grew up in the church, and didn't realize how much I don't know about what it looks like to approach Scripture and how we should approach it. Great study!
Have y’all heard of the She Reads Truth bible study app? If you haven’t and are looking for an awesome resource to study the bible, I highly recommend this one. I’ve been a fan of theirs for quite some time, so when the opportunity came to join the launch team for a new bible study with the founders of She Reads Truth, I jumped at the chance. This is an excellent scripture based bible study. I loved it! I looked forward to every lesson and came away with something every day. This study not only reminded me of the power in the Word, but encouraged me to go even deeper. It’s something I’ve needed for this season in my life. This makes for a great group study, so if you’re looking to study the word with women, this is an excellent resource. I was truly encouraged and hope y’all get a chance to go through this one as well! What’s one of your favorite Bible studies?(Thank you to Lifeway Press for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review)Originally posted att: [...]
I did this for a post-Grad, young women bible study. Rachael and Amanda do a great job speaking to this age group in my opinion. They're so genuine and their excitement really shows in the video series that goes along with it. It was convicting in some ways but made me very joyful to get started on each week's lesson. Highly recommend for yourself or a group!
I loved this Bible Study! It's wonderfully organized, thought provoking and touches on many key stories and themes in the Bible. It really speaks to your heart and is scripture based. I did this study solo over the summer and really enjoyed it. It includes some questions and links to a video series for small group study too. I would high recommend this study and the SHE READS TRUTH ministry.
I just finished leading a small group through this study. The group consensus seems to be that this book was well-balanced and engaging. We appreciate a women's Bible study that isn't full of "fluff" and has real substance to it. Something that is challenging, but doable in the midst of a crazy-busy life. The weekly homework (4 lessons each week) was not overwhelming, yet it took us deep enough that it was time well-spent and we learned a good amount. Our group had a wide range of participants (new Christians and lifelong believers, some were new to Bible study, others were committing to getting back into reading their Bible after a long time away, others were seasoned readers) and each person said they enjoyed the study and valued the time spent together. Several in our group commented that this study helped them to recognize and tear down barriers that had been in the way of them digging into Scripture, which is awesome! This book helped to facilitate us getting into the Word and into deeper relationship with God and one another. The book itself is beautiful.**As an extra note- We also used the optional videos during our group sessions. I don't feel like the videos added a whole lot to the study. They are short and are good for breaking up the session time and orienting the group to the weeks discussion, but weren't really necessary. If I were doing this study again, I wouldn't buy the accompanying videos.
