Used this book in high school as a student, and now use it as a teacher 10 years later. It's the only book I've found that really encourages kids to think while learning mathematics. I wish the Algebra books were as good as this one was.

While some kids enjoy the challenge of finding out things for yourself, I am currently sitting through a 1 year hell of trying to grasp the concepts in this book. If you are representing a school looking for a new Geometry book, consider teaching this as an alternate class to a more traditional book. Patty paper constructions, sketches, and other things only help you out so far. Our teacher still has to go over most things with us.

this book is very hard to understand for a student who knows nothing about geometry. it is an inductive approach which means that the author intended for the student to have to think about what to do for the next step in a specific lesson. it does not tell you what to do. only with a teacher of mathematics or geometry can a student understand geometry by using this book.

I went to my daughter's high school open house last week. Shewill be taking honors geometry next year. I scanned thisbook and I couldn't find any proofs. What the math teachereffectively told me was that most people hated proofs sothey were removed and were replaced by paragraphs and posters.I was a math major and I remember loving proofs. Most peoplewho like math have always enjoyed the proofs. I have decidedto home school her in geometry next year as a result of this.
