Forget Me Knot is book number 13 in the Garden Girls mystery series franchise. This entry in the Mystery series evidences the same deficiencies of the preceding volumes. Writing, character development, plot, and the protagonists themselves remain problematic. There is little in this story that is commendable as lessons for life or role models. Here the absurd, deficient reasoning, selfishness, self-interest, self-focus, egotism, untruthfulness, and bad actions are presented as rational, reasonable, selfless, and laudatory. Among so much that defies logic and precludes voluntary suspension of disbelief:a. P. 61: "Gloria was a fly-by-the-seat-of-her-pants type investigator. There wasn't a plan, but she didn't tell them that..." (This self-defined "investigator" does not plan or think or think ahead; she pokes into situations, with her cronies -- leading herself and others into danger to be rescued by others -- who are, likewise, presented as then placed in danger);b. Andrea's fiancé sustains a head injury and has Amnesia: She wants to flee because she believes she is being "jilted" and thinks that he perhaps has decided not to marry her. Her interest is self-interest; the focus on impact on her and her plans, not consistently love and worry about the victim's health.c. And then Andrea's chums, the Garden Girls -- and conflict among two GG friends (token ethnic references in the series -- other than in regard to religion), with competing remedies for the victim to aid in his recovery of memory and ensure wedding plans do not have to be cancelled, and monetary expenditures/a deposit for the wedding lost.d.
