Before sitting down to read this book be sure all the lights are on in the house, the windows are locked and you have plenty of coffee handy because you won't want to sleep until you've finished the book. It's that good. When Debra Patterson discovers her children along with her controlling, perfectionistic husband have disappeared she feels she has no where to turn. Her only solace is the love and support of her best friend, a friend who helps her see that only God is the answer and not other means of dulling the pain. Buy this book, you won't be disappointed!

DiAnn Mills and I both did some work over at River Oak Publishing and as authors do, traded books. I opened it up one evening to give it a quick read and the next thing I knew it was 2 am. I read it straight through. She's a masterful author who keeps you hanging on every word. My heart really went out to the lady in this story. I can hardly wait to read "Leather and Lace."Terry[..]

Debra Patterson experiences every parent's worst nightmare - the disappearance of her children. When she discovers her husband plotted for months before snatching them, her world collapses. Debra's journey to locate her missing children leads her on a path of self-discovery and faith. Parents, you may want to cuddle your own children a little closer after reading this book. I could not put it down and highly recommend it!

Footsteps is another great novel from DiAnn Mills. When a mother's two children are abducted she frantically searches for them, but they are gone. The police and FBI join the hunt for the children and she learns that it was her husband who took them, but where did he take them? When her husband turns up dead in Mexico the trail goes cold and she fears she will never find her children. Birthdays and Christmases come and go. Will she ever find them? Are they alive? Against all hope she continues to believe that they are alive, but will she ever find them.Footsteps is awesome and it really gets you into the head of a mother who has lost her children. From despair to drowning your sorrows, to the joy that comes from any lead that brings you a step closer to finding your children this is one wild ride.Great story!

I think DiAnn Mills is a wonderful Christian author anyhow, but Footsteps really touched my heart deeply. Missing children has to be one of the most difficult situations any parent has to deal. It is the kind of thing that when seeing a story about it on tv or the internet you just want to gather your family and especially your children close to you and never let them out of your sight less the same thing touch one of them. I think it would be difficult to deal with just a situation without God, I don't know how one does it without God. DiAnn tells the story of Debra and her missing children. It is told in a very realistic way. Debra's path is in no way smooth. There are many bumps in her road as she searches for her children. I don't want to say much about the story to spoil it for those who have not read it. But I will say that at a certain point in her struggles she gives them over to God, and although she does not them simply find her children, she does learn to live with her trust for their protection and hopefully their return placed in God's hand. It is a heartbreaking story, but a beautiful one as well as you see God work in Debra's life and in others as well. It is also a beautiful story that speaks of God's mercy and his grace and his great love for each of his children. In my opinion it is a don't-miss book! I hope you will give it a read. I don't think you will regret it!

Could this happen to you? You feel the emotions, the triumphs and the heartbreak as if it were you. It is wonderful to read a drama that is hard to put down, without the graphic sex and vulgar language. If the rest of this author's work is as good as this, then I can't wait to read more.

Follow Debra Patterson as she lives a parent's worst nightmare when her two young children disappear from the Houston shopping mall, where she took them to buy school clothes. She us even more distraught when she learns her husband disappeared too and he planned the whole thing. First she turns to alcohol to dull her pain, then while getting counseling from her best friend's pastor, she turns to God when several strangers walk up to her and they each tell her the same thing "God loves you". With the strength of God, and the help of a new friend, she struggles to track down her children.

DiAnn Mills is high on my list of favorite suspense authors. After reading some of the reviews for Footsteps, I knew it was not in the suspense genre.I decided to give it a try anyway as Ms. Mills is a excellent writer. Footsteps focuses on Debra's personal and spiritual growth. At the beginning of the book, Debra is wimpy wife who thinks everything is her fault. She believes her abusive domineering husband is correct when he constantly tells her that she is not a good wife or mother. Readers follow Debra's progress as she becomes a strong determined woman through her new faith in God and with the help of loving, caring friends. Footsteps is a well written redemption story. Debra and Cale are fully fleshed out characters who are likeable and believable. Even though Cale is a Christian, he has his own issues to deal with. I can relate to Debra when she comes to fully trust in the Lord, and "hands" her children over to Him for safe keeping but still falters (wants to "grab" them back) at times. Very real-life.I am glad I decided to read Footseps. It is good coming- to - faith - in - God story. Looking forward to more of DiAnn's suspense books, though!
