A Promise To Protect (Logan Point Book #2): A Novel
Ebooks Online

Acting Sheriff Ben Logan hasn't heard from Leigh Somerall in a very long time, but it doesn't mean he can get her--or their whirlwind romance of ten years ago--out of his head. When she calls out of the blue, it is with a strange request to protect her brother, Tony. When Tony dies just days later, Ben is charged with a different task--protecting Leigh and her nine-year-old son, TJ, from the killers. But how can Ben keep an eye on Leigh if she's doing everything in her power to avoid him? And could the secret that Leigh is keeping change Ben's life forever?Suspense, intrigue, and a touch of romance make A Promise to Protect perfect for readers who like their stories with a hearty dose of mystery.

In all my busyness, I had forgotten that I had agreed to read and review this book for the publisher (getting the free Kindle version) and I purchased it. It was well worth the read and the purchase!I had read the first book in the series so I was looking for to this one. With that said, each book is also a stand alone. What I loved about this book is that I grew to really love the characters. Leigh is not an easy person to like all the time, but Sheriff Ben Logan is incredible! Someone is after Leigh, and she is so independent that she does not want protection from the sheriff, who is an old flame. While she tries to maintain her independence, she does not always make the best decisions in keeping herself and her son out of danger. The sheriff tries to respect her need for space, but is also set on protecting Leigh and her son. There are some interesting reasons why Leigh doesn't want him around her son, but I won't give any spoilers. I also like that there is another plot going on as well in law enforcement. It doesn't seem related to Leigh's case...at first. What I didn't like about the book is that I thought the first half moved somewhat slowly. I could easily put the book down and come back to it. But, once I got to the half way point, I could not put it down. Now, that I have finished the book for a week, I still find myself thinking about the characters and would LOVE if the third book in this series picks up exactly where the second one left off.

I enjoyed Patricia Bradley’s first novel, but I enjoyed this even more. Both are set in the small town of Logan Point, near Memphis, but you don’t need to have read Shadows of the Past in order to read this. While I have read both, I have to admit I’ve read so many novels in between that I don’t remember the details.Ben Logan has stepped into his father’s shoes as Sheriff of Logan Point, and trying to find out the truth behind his father’s shooting. Tony Jackson said he had information, but now Tony’s been shot, is bleeding out, and asking Ben to protect his sister. Ben agrees, despite his uneasy relationship with Leigh. Dr Leigh Somerall left Logan Point ten years ago, basically run out of town by Sheriff Tom Logan, who didn’t see her as a suitable girlfriend for his son. Now she’s back with her son, working in the Emergency department of the local hospital and staying with her brother, Tony.Ben and Leigh are both hiding secrets, Ben about his fear of children, and Leigh about why she broke up with Ben all those years ago, and married so quickly afterwards. There’s nothing like a good secret to keep the pages turning, and these work well. When will they admit they are still attracted to each other, and confess to what’s holding them back? Intertwined with these secrets is the bigger suspense plot. It soon becomes apparent that Tony’s shooting isn’t an isolated incident. The only question is: who is the next target? Ben or Leigh? And why?Overall, A Promise to Protect is the perfect blend of romance and suspense, and I’ll be looking out for the next in the Logan Point series. Recommended for fans of Dee Henderson, Dani Pettrey, and Irene Hannon. Thanks to Revell and NetGalley for providing a free ebook for review. I both liked and disliked this novel. That's why I rated it a 3 stars. The story line was great with many twists and turns that left you guessing until the very end. But the main female character Leigh was so self centered, selfish, and mean that it really got on my nerves. I know in many Christian novels we see God transform people as He works in their lives and the story shows us that process and transformation. But that was not the case here. She was so obnoxious that I put the book down twice and was not going to finish it, but the story line was so good I wanted to see how it ended. I did not enjoy the book.

Even though this is the second book in the series it can be a stand aloneas the store in this book is basically only in this book with minor referenced to persons in first book.I read the first book and got this one because I liked the way the author wrote. As the story develops you are kept in the book trying to figure out what is next so it makes youwant to keep reading. Thought the story was very interesting and have just gone to get book 3to see what the author develops in that book

I enjoyed the first book. This one's even better. It's more complex and developed than book one of the series, which is understandable since Patricia Bradley was just getting started with the suspense genre. I love her writing style, and have already delved into book 3 of the series. I'm going to buy everything this author writes. She's one of my favorites. Recommended.

Draws you in and won't let you go until the end... It has been a long time since I have read an author as good as Patricia Bradley. If you like Dee Henderson or Irene Hannon you'll like the Logan Point series by Ms Bradley. These books are well written with characters you will enjoy and feel like you know them. I just wish they also had whispersync available with them so I could listen to them while I am druving. Instead I have to wait to be in a place where I can continue to read!
