Everyone is holding their breath in George Mason's saloon as the confrontation between Paul Lander & Gyp Crawford is unfolding when Gyp makes disparaging remarks about Two Moons, Paul's wife. After others encourage Paul to, 'let it go' because Gyp is drunk, Paul finally extracts an apology from Gyp & the near death doesn't happen. When Gyp leaves Paul address' the room telling them he knows a lot of them call him "squaw-man" & they can call him whatever they want but NEVER say anything about his wife. This will set the stage for the coming upheaval that puts the town on it's ear.I'm thinking, 'Oh, this is going to be a fine read!' ...and indeed it was!I highly recommend this series to anyone desiring a look into the beginnings of our country & how the settlement of the western states were hotbeds of violence as the white man & the red man learn to live together in peace.
