this book is really great!!! i am using it with my 2-5th graders, and they all understand, and love it! it has pictures, definitions, descriptions, and works well with lesson planning...oh, and internet friendly. it gives you sites you can go to for more learning! love it!!!
My child uses this book at school and I thought it is worth getting his own copy since the book is very well written and easy to read. If your child likes American history, I recommend you get this book.
Great textbook, with clear information & questions to assure you that your student has grasped the concepts. I would recommend anyone who buys this book to pick up the workbook. They go hand in hand beautifully.
Week 3 of the schoolyear and this book looks good so far. The supplemental workbook isn't glamorous but the exercises are just enough to help my child understand the concepts without being too much. Today's workbook page had a little crossword puzzle in it, which my kid liked.We were using a different social studies book last spring which was also nice quality, but for some reason that one seemed to overwhelm my child. Maybe it's having the workbook that makes the difference, as lessons are quick and easy with the workbook.
My daughter was "forgetting" her book at school, so she couldn't do her homework. In Texas, where we used to live, the schools all had classroom copies of the books, and each child was loaned a textbook for the year to take and leave at home. I was surprised when we moved to Kansas and found that they don't do that here, because it's such a smart way to make sure kids have the resources to do their work at home.I bought this and a math textbook, and was amazed at how little it cost, and how much it helped. The books were in good shape, and came quickly after I ordered them.I wish college textbooks were this cheap!
Great book. Being immigrant parents to a middle schooler who is American, this was a great book for me to learn in brief about American History from the time of pilgrims departing Europe up to Civil War. It has good layout, makes it interesting for my 10 year old 5th grader to just pick up and browse through facts, and history.
This book is working for us but I wish it had better chapter reviews at the end of the chapters.
