I was looking for a coloring book with pictures suitable for our toddler class at church, and had this great coloring book recommended to me. I was really pleased not only with the pictures, but also with the verses/sayings at the bottom of the page, and more importantly still, the permission to reproduce "for ministry purposes". The coloring book goes through the Bible, hitting on the more popular stories, dedicating one page to the story itself--i.e. Samuel Serves God All His Life with a picture of little Samuel helping Eli in the tabernacle--and the next page to a more present-day application of the story--i.e. God Wants Us To Be His Helpers with a picture of a little girl picking up crayons. It's very good. My only complaint about the book, and this is true of many Bible story books for the younger crowd, is that the story of Jesus' betrayal, trial, crucifixion, and death is skipped entirely. Now, of course, preschoolers don't need all, or even a lot, of the details about the Jesus' great sacrifice, but at the same time, I think it's confusing for books to go from Jesus riding into Jerusalem being praised by the people with palm leaves to the next page Jesus is alive again. A scene of Jesus being arrested in the garden or of his trial would be better than neglecting a huge part of the most important part of the Bible. Nevertheless, this coloring book is great for what it intends to be--a sweet overview of the Bible with application points for preschoolers.
I got this book used and was not disappointed in the quality of it. I previewed it in a bookstore to make sure I wanted it. Here is what you get.It has probably about 100 Bible story pictures and 100 corresponding lesson application pictures. For example, there is a page with Elisha, the boy, and the lady of Shunem with the Bible reference and story title for the Bible story picture. Then on the back, there is a page of Jesus greeting a boy with the caption, God has power to help us. Some stories have more than one Bible story picture and corresponding application picture.The pictures are very simple, perfect for my baby and three year old. The style of the drawings are tasteful and not exaggerated or cartoonish.The publisher gives you permission to reproduce the pictures for your home or classroom.I did not want to pay full price for this item, so I bought a USED, VERY GOOD version, which had no writing on the page for half the price.
We got this book for our 2 yr old - it's been a great starting point for discussion for us. I've also used it with a sunday school class for 2 and 3 yr olds - has great variety and I was generally able to find a coloring page I could use to support the teaching for the day. Age appropriate.
saves my hours, hunting for coloring pages online, that are appropriate for 1-3 year olds. Love that the Bible verse is included, and that there is also a modern day coloring page, to match the Bible coloring page. This is my every Sunday, go-to teaching tool. I have 5 Bibles, Bible storybooks, rhyme Bible, etc. and for every story I pick, there is a coloring page in this book that compliments it. Thank you!!
These are great for our 3rd grade Sunday School. We use them for warmup activity as students are arriving. Students like to chat and be artistic before we begin the lesson. The modern day "application of the verse" coloring sheet is sometimes a little weak, a stretch to find a picture of children living out the Bible story truth. Because of this we probably won't use about half the book, but still worth the purchase.
When you see the size of the book and the wonderful pages with their wording, you know that you got much more than what you expected. The price was also good. I would recommend this book for anyone looking for a religious coloring book for their children.
Great way for kids to keep quiet during church while learning about the Bible. I can track the children's improvement by seeing how their neat their coloring is and also by how much they use the coloring book or pay attention during Mass.
Bought this to use in my Sunday School class. The pictures are simple but contain just enough detail to keep it interesting for the kids. It is going over very well.
