IF JESUS CAME TO VISIT ME is a precious story in rhyme that tells how a child imagines a visit from Jesus. The lovely illustrations by Renee Graef expressively portray the life of a young child. I especially liked the one of a little boy lying on the ground watching a spider. The text teaches love, service, and gratitude in an appealing and unforgettable way. Making Jesus comfortable, asking curious questions, and sharing with Him are some of the highlights. Lords writes with awareness of the heart and mind of a child. This is a wonderful book which will teach even the youngest toddler about Jesus. It would make a wonderful gift and would be a great addition to any church nursery.
When I read to a child, I am at peace in this crazy world. The well-illustrated board book If Jesus Came to Visit Me by Jill Roman Lord is a good choice to share with toddlers, preschoolers or early readers. Engaging drawings by Renee Graef shows the possibility of a visit with Jesus. As we take a walk with an approachable Jesus, questions flood out. Why does the ostrich have wings but can't fly? How's Grandma doing in heaven? This inviting story helps the reader to realize we all have something to give Jesus. Looking for an excellent way to introduce Jesus to a special child in your life? Try If Jesus Came to Visit Me by Jill Roman Lord.
I like reading this to my son because we talk about Jesus all the time, but it's not like he can see a physical Jesus like he can his grandparents or his cousins who live far away. I think it's a nice way to enable children to imagine Jesus being capable of physical interaction. It helped my son to incorporate a more intimate understanding of God, to see that he can talk to Him about things he likes and does. My son prays a little differently now and I think a lot can be attributed to seeing images and concepts in this book. The human manifestation of Jesus is a huge part of why we can relate and understand more about God, without Jesus we wouldn't have this personal communication and relationship. It's important for children to know that their Lord is personal, loving, interested in their lives and yet is still all powerful. This book is a very nice and simple way to elaborate on the many wonders of a personal relationship with our God
This is a sweet book written for preschoolers. However, as I read it to my daughters I realized it was a great reminder to all ages that we should interact with Jesus as children do. With open arms and questions and feelings. I love this book and give it to all of my children's friends for birthday presents!
This book leads our children right into the arms of our Lord. It helps children learn about Jesus and it builds faith. It also teaches that Jesus is alive and that we should be prepared to meet Him. It is fun to read with it's rhythmic sentences. This is certainly a way to bring the little ones to Jesus. This book brings me peace as an adult. When I finished reading this book the song I Could Only Imagine entered my mind. Jesus said it best " unless we become like little children we will not enter into the kingdom of heaven". I'm not sure who will learn more from this book me or my granddaughter! This book is hard cover , sturdy and will last for years.
Great little book that kids can relate to as they wonder what they would do if Jesus came to visit them in the flesh... Sweet ending that introduces them to the concept of salvation/surrendering to the Lord, as well. Love it!
I purchased this book for my 18 month old daughter for Christmas. This is a fun and easy book to read. Each page has just the right amount of words to hold my daughter's interest, she enjoys the pictures, and I enjoy reading the book to her. I love to tuck my daughter into bed at night knowing that the last thing we read is book that will inspire her to think what it would be like to visit with Jesus. Jill Roman Lord, my hat is off to you! You have written a wonderful little book here!
Love this book! I have another book by this author called If Jesus Lived inside My Heart and my little one loves reading it. The illustrations and rhymes are precious and the messages of them are priceless. This is a great buy!
