I bought this for one of our students who is a reluctant reader. He is very interested in many things, but does not like to read. This almanac helps him build background knowledge for his classes and well as develop interest in a variety of topics. Perhaps he will even want to read further on one of them.
When I called Time Magazine (to try and get the issue for the week my daughter was born) they didn't have any more copies...so after searching ebay & craigslist, I somehow ran across this book. I am so happy I did; it is filled with current events & TONS of factual information (like an encyclopedia)...glad to have it on the shelf with all her books so she can enjoy it in the future!
I purchase one of these every year and my daughter is a big fan. Although some of the facts are a bit repetitive sometimes, it's always fun to learn something new. She carries it every where and is always learning new and interesting facts.
I have a hard time getting my thirteen-year-old to read. But this book is great - it is chock full of interesting facts and ideas. Whenever he goes back to it, he finds some new juicy bit of information about which to comment. There is something in this book for kids of all ages!
My 10 year old loved this book! She has last years edition too and she read it all year. Lots of interesting info...
