My kids (and myself!) are total book-a-holics. We have shelves upon shelves full of books. Board books, chapter books, coloring books, educational books, etc. etc. etc. The books that get the most use? Anything National Geographic!!I picked up this almanac while shopping with my 8 year old this weekend. I've been slowing down a bit on the book buying, but when she asked for this, I simply couldn't resist. The 2014 almanac was (and still is!) a huge favorite in our house. I just knew the 2015 version would be, too!My 9 year old devoured this book in a couple of hours. The high-quality pictures and age-appropriate articles are hard to resist. Everything about this book grabs your attention! My 8 year old and I read some of the articles together. It is all so fascinating and fun! I didn't stumple upon a single page that I didn't want to read. These are the kinds of books I love buying. It will be read time and time again at home, and then it will be shared with classmates at school for even more fun. Its early yet, but I can't wait until 2016!
This is another edition of a wonderful book for kids. We have been buying them every year for awhile now because the kids love curling up with the almanac and flipping through the beautiful pages.I am a book lover myself. And I am always willing to put anything on a shelf that encourages reading and imagination or discovery. The kids love finding fun facts and presenting them to us. It's fun for them to know something mom and dad didn't know. :-)
90% of the information is the same as the 2014 version. My son was very disappointed.
This was a gift for my daughter, and within hours she was quoting things from the book and discussing all the different things she have learned. The cute animal section of course has a special mention on its own.The quality of the book is very good, everything you can expect from National Geographic is there: interesting facts, discussion on issues kids crave about, biology, science, math, social studies, etc. This is a very good way to encourage kids to learn without having to go through a formal textbook. And construction is sturdy enough to withstand the treatment from a typical kidHighly recommended, cannot go wrong with it
I collected National Geographic Kids Almanac since 2010. Everytime they recycle some information. This year was exceptional about 80% of 2015 almanac was in 2014 or earlier versions. Why even bother buying new one? Just take previous year and read it as new.Complete waste of money.
My 10 year old niece asked for this for her birthday, so I got it for her. She started looking through it immediately after she opened it, and kept reciting interesting information to us as she skimmed through it. Worth the reasonable price, and it made me so happy that there are kids that are still interested in reading the old-fashioned way - with a book in their hands!
This is a fun Almanac to read and learn. With the exception of the promotion of global warming, it's fantastic. We read a little every day and it was a learning experience for both my granddaughter and me.
My daughter loved this book. She carried with her to and from school the last few days and read it cover to cover. It's great for kids-- gives little facts about lots of different things.
