What a fantastic book to read aloud - we all just love it! The poems are incredibly creative, clever, and constructive, and the illustrations are full of action and fun. Sure to become a favorite in lots of homes, like so many other books by Linda Ashman in ours!
This is one of the most fun alphabet type story books I have found. I have granddaughters age 3, 4, and 6 that really enjoy being read to from this book. The six year old is reading some herself and the story / wording for each letter are very cleverly done for the most part. This is also enjoyable for the adult reading the book to children. Very delightful!
My 6 year old daughter and I went to the local public library today. While she was choosing books for me to read to her I was attracted to the cover of "M is for Mischief: An A to Z of Naughty Children".We both enjoyed the humor, social mistakes and rich language the author used. There are many new vocabulary words in this book for a child to learn. The illustrations were equally as fun and offbeat. My daughter has asked that I buy this for her and I'm certainly willing because it was entertaining to both mother and daughter.
I have been collecting a library of children's books for years. I say they are for my future grandchildren, but they are most likely never leaving this house...this book is the latest addition. I love the illustrations, and the text. I am an artist, so the illustrations catch my eye first. This book has a nice rythym to it, it makes you laugh, and the artwork is absolutely wonderful. I have a thing for mischievious-ness!
My 5 old boy hated this book at the beginning, because all of the kids were so naughty. I guess that speaks to how effective the book is in conveying its purpose. We have continued to read the book, and he now adores it. He loves to point out how the fantastic drawings correspond to the writing. The alliteration and writing is fun for grown-ups as well.
We've owned this book since my twins were two-and-a-half; my boys have loved it for the three years hence. It's a great fun to read aloud, and the illustrations are very engaging - each scene is mix of photographs, illustrations, and line drawings. The author's vocabulary is fantastic, and the illustrations give ample clues to help the children guess at words' meanings. I find it a very fun and educational way to talk about manners with my kids.
Oh-HO!This is a fun little story book to help shape your children's manners. This alphabet book features children misbehaving.Linda Ashman's rhymes are memorable and perfect for reading out loud. The illustrations include some sketches combined with some photographs, and lots of great perspectives to get the point across. Share it with your family - it will have you all laughing.
My little boys love this book, especially my 4-year-old. I enjoy the rhymes which are sometimes like tongue-twisters. Ashman is very clever in her writing, using much alliteration. For example: for P, "Penelope perched on the porch eating pie." For K, "Kenny is the kicking king: kicked the kite, the keys, the swing." I enjoy the artwork and the poetry, and I never get tired of reading this book (which is fortunate). We've checked this book out many times from the library, so I think it's time to buy it!
