Great content, great labs. The actual exam is rather powershell intensive, this book covers both GUI tools and powershell for each topic in great detail. Highly recommend this book. I will definitely be purchasing these books for the 411 and 412 exams.
Whoever proofread this book needs to go back to grammar school and learn reading comprehension.Full of errors and contradictions. Completely lacking in depth or detail. Where there should be inline content there are Technet links.Unacceptable, especially considering how long it took MS Press to release the training materials after 2012r2 went RTM.
Great training guide to use in getting ready for MCSA. I like the fact that this is written by and for Microsoft. Covers all the topic that will been on this exam and helps walk you through each step. Great tool and like that I can also purchase with Exam-ref book that narrows down topics and goes through each point in easy to read format.
The depth of coverage in this book will not be enough to help you pass the exam.I had to read several other books to supplement my learning.Regretfully, i suggest you do not buy this book.
I purchased this book a few months ago and I was dissapointed to say the least. I read a few chapters and wasn't impressed with the overall layout so I decided to pick up the MCSA 70-410 Cert Guide instead by Don Poulton and so far I'm greatly enjoying the writing style. Save yourself the time and money and pickup Don Poulton's book instead.
Considering Microsoft is the one that develops their exams and their exam questions come right out of their Exam Ref's, there's no real other choice. The Microsoft Training Guide's and Exam Ref's should be your go-to guide to everything Microsoft.
Please save your money. I have had bad experiences with Microsoft Press books (more and more recently which is ironic since they are the vendor for the products that are the subject of the training guides) - but this is truly the worst so far and again equally ironic since this is basic installation material that is supposed to be covered by this training guide. Here is an example quote taken directly from a section of the book discussing the limitations of mixed environment migrations: 'In general, information about such limitations might be buried in the TechNet Library documentation for windows server 2012, which means you need to do some research before you try deploying Windows Server 2012 member servers with roles and features installed in your existing Active Directory environment." So basically the author included a section covering mixed environments and then punts the topic saying there are limitations if you install windows server 2012 member servers in a previous version domain - and, oh by the way, there might be something about this in TechNet. Tell me does this guy sound like an expert to you? He didn't even take the time to post any references to the most common windows Server 2012 member server roles you might install in a previous version domain. This happened again and again in the text. So that said, save your money and go directly to the Microsoft site or third party text.
This covers in depth and power shell cmdlets as well. I learned more from this than cbtnuggets on same topic.
