This a great devotional that will inspire you to pray more and will also teach you things about prayer that you may not have known. It is one of the greatest books on prayer that I have read. It is so good that I will on occasion take it with me just to read sections of it. It has a scripture index in the back that can give you new insights to specific bible verses. It also one of the few books are prayer that combines God's love with prayer.
This is an in-depth study on prayer. Every aspect of prayer is discussed with lots of scripture to back up the author's statements. It is not an easy book to read and you will probably find yourself returning to some sections and reading again to absorb the content. Anyone who wants to learn more about prayer needs to read this book.
This is for kids, but we did it as a family and it was fantastic. It's a little meatier than a devotional and while my 4th grader loves it my 2nd grader didn't like all the activities in it. It slowed down my 4th grader, so she started doing it on her own. It taught me a lot as well as the kids and I have went from children who focused their prayers on "me" and now they focus their prayers on God's will. AMAZING.
It takes way too long to do this study with 4th grade and younger kids. We can't do a day in less than an hour. Though the study is pretty good, it takes too much time, and my kids don't really have the concentration for that long of a time. I think they would like it better if it were more concise.
It is worth purchasing these study books even if you don't have the bible that she recommends. For the most part, you can do most things with any bible. For the few questions you need the bible version she recommends you can use Blueletterbible.com . This book is so detailed and full of scripture while remaining fun and entertaining for children. My son is 11 and spends time each morning with this book as his direction for quiet time.
My 7 year old is enjoying this. He usually does my adult precept studies with me so this is a lighter study for the summer and he enjoys the puzzles. My 6 year old is not ready for this but we try to jnclude him as much as possible. It's a good one to start with when using these materials.
As I renewed my faith and became a Sunday School teacher of 4-year olds, I wanted something to guide me in my prayers and also to teach my class how to pray. I googled "Teach me to pray" and this book came up in the search. Although, it's not one for teaching little ones to pray, it has been an amazing tool for me personally. AND, the picture does not do it justice! It is a beautiful book. . . inside and out!
I got this book through a class at my church, and loved it so much I bought one for my grandmother too! The book was in amazing condition and the cover is simply stunning!
