Don't repeat my mistake. If you're serious about passing the 70-533 exam, this book won't help.PROS:The book gives a reasonable break down of high and mid level topics to guide your examination preparation.CONS:Q&A section at the end of each chapter has several wrong answers.Q&A sections are weak and do not reflect the actual test.Editorial mistakes throughout. I'm not talking about little errors, but big elementary school mistakes.Sections don't cover the right material deep enough.SUMMARY:This book is sadly a waste of time and money. The actual exam is filled with Powershell, case study questions, and "put execution steps in the right order." This book does almost nothing to prepare you for the test. A better exam prep would be the MeasureUp online practice exam and the real Azure documentation.
There are a TON of inconsistencies in the book and a lot of questions flat out have the wrong answers. There are even mispelled words in azure command examples. You can clearly tell the author of chapters 1 and 2 did NOT write chapter 3. The complete flow changes with inconsistent variable usage and inconsistent numbering of questions to answers. Whoever edited this book missed a LOT of stuff. Also, Question 7 for chapter 3.1 has a choice between and which is unfair because is a sub element of . The readings do not make it logical when confronted with the Thought experiments at the end of each section of a chapter. And ANY Exam that makes you memorize all the different sizes of VMs available in order to know what is the best fit is not really checking your knowledge of the platform. Any normal human being would just look at what is available when making that choice without having to Memorize all the different sizes from Free to Premier. Example Question: A worker role requires at least 3 cores, 48 GB of memory and local resource storage of 500 GB. Which instance size would meet this. Most people would look this up or query it in PowerShell. They certainly wouldn't have to remember it.Choices:A. LargeB. ExtraLargeC. Standard_D13D. A7
Not only did it help me pass my exam, its a great reference to keep on hand afterwards. The book is a bit outdated as the Azure stuff has changed a lot, but this book is inline with the exam. I suggest reading it and trying the examples in a test/trial Azure subscription where you can. It helps to get a lot of it down.
The content is nicely formatted but sometimes the questions and answers leave a lot to be desired. For instance, there are no answers for section 4.1 and it seems that other answers are just wrong. If nothing else it made me dive deeper into the material to figure out the correct answers.
Pretty poorly executed. This book assumes you already have functioning content on Azure. You can't get past the Powershell on page 3 without a few hours of chasing around errors on the Azure website.
Good format well structured. There were some incorrect graphics in the book. I'd prefer the answers to the question be in each section after the questions. This makes using them as a study reference simpler.
