There is some really good historical information about missions in this book (and this course), but there is also some very deeply flawed information that comes from missionaries that have abandoned Christian orthodoxy. Because the ideology of many of the authors whose works are included in this book is so deeply flawed, I cannot recommend this course work (or the class that this book is used with).In short, what a number of the authors of the material in this book believe is that one should never convert to Christianity, but rather they should come into God's kingdom through the religion of their birth i.e. if one is a Muslim, they should remain a Muslim, if one is a Christian, they should remain a Christian, if one is a Hindu, they should remain a Hindu, etc... In Islamic contexts, this often means that Muslim believers may continue to affirm the Qur’an as God’s inspired word, affirm Mohammad as a true prophet of God, and see Jesus as prophet of God who is only a man and not the Son of God. The book and course is designed to ease one down the path into accepting these ideas. This book soft sells these ideas but many of the authors of this coarse work go leaps and bounds farther in their ministries and writings. Some of the authors of the material in this coarse have been directly involved in bible translations that remove familial language to produce bibles that are less offensive to Muslims i.e. replacing phrases like "Son of God" with "God's representative" or "God's Messiah," replacing references to "Father" (when speaking of God) with terms like "Guardian."Here are some direct quotes from the book itself:A movement to Jesus among Muslims, Rick Brown: Pg.
