I have "The Big Green Book of Beginner Books" and The BIG Blue Book of Beginner Books. The stories in both books are easy for beginning readers; but the stories in the blue book have full plots and are more interesting. The green book stories are sillier and nonsensical. Dr. Seuss has written much better stories than these.My daughter says she likes both books equally well. She especially enjoys searching for all the silly objects in "Wacky Wednesday." I will give her opinion more weight in the star rating. After all, it is a children's book and it does what I want, which is motivate her to read. I personally would have given it 3 stars.If you are trying to decide between the blue book or the green book, I'd recommend the blue book.
I have a 6 yr old son, in first grade. He is shy, but he becomes more shy because he has issues with reading. He came to me one day, after he went to the school library, and he picked out this book and started reading it. It came so easy for him and felt very comfortable reading it. He then wanted me to buy it so he could begin reading some stories to his class. I have never seen him so excited about reading, especially in front of his classmates. The book contains about 6 or 7 stories of which each story is about 10 -12 pages. This was by far the best money I spent on a book for my son.
Bought this book along with two others of the same name (different "color"). I have a 5 yr old daughter and a 6 year old son that are learning to read and practicing with the reading that they know. They love these books. I would definitely recommend to anyone with young children that are wanting some beginner "first books". I actually remember some of the books included in these sets from when I was very young. So apparently these books can have a very long lasting fond memory for your children. My daughter just keeps wanting to read them over and over and each time she gets better and better.
My 1st grade daughter would not read and then she got hooked on Dr. Seuss' Sam I Am so when I saw these books I knew these would be a hit. My daughter loves them and it's the only thing she will read. So if your child is stubborn to get reading and they love Dr. Seuss these books are great. And I would say they are perfect for 1st and 2nd graders. Not too many words a page but not too little either.
Great group of books in one. Easy to find instead of all of these seperate. My son loved it and is a big fan of all things Seuss. Great way to get him to read!!! Highly recommend and as usual was speedy delivery it's my go to store. We saw this at a bookstore and then I scanned it and found one on !
My son loves Wacky Wednesday most of all. There are wacky things on each page to find and it involves him more in the story. Once I read this story to him from this book, it was the only story he wanted me to read to him for almost a month. Definitely recommend this set of Dr. Seuss books!
I loved the idea of saving money by getting so many books in one. But I hate reading from it. When you're reading to the little ones, it's annoying to have a big and heavy book. When they turn the pages for you, it can be difficult to get back to the correct book. Yet I like the idea that the two-year-old can go right to my bookcase and get this book and we have a lot to chose from.
I always loved Dr. Seuss as a child. Now I want my grandchildren to enjoy them. I plan on having a substantial Seuss library for when the grandkids visit, so of course I am not nearly finished collecting. So I will just continue to enjoy my Seuss expansion.
