I've been working using Brain Quest products for my daughter since she was 3. She's exceptionally smart, but I don't think that JUST really smart kids can get a lot out of Brain Quest Products. At the same time that I was home schooling her, because we couldn't afford spendy elite preschools and the other programs she would have had to do because we had to wait an extra year due to the birthday cutoff here, I was also tutoring a friend's son who had a high level of Asperbergers. His teacher wanted to hold him back but we both saw his potential and that he could definitely move ahead. He responded so well to these cards, as did my daughter. They both did Brain Quest workbooks as well. I let them work at their own pace, I only insisted that they do their very best.They both still love the work books. Also the cards. They are now both at entirely different schools but doing so well. My daughter's academic skills are 3-4 grades higher than what grade she is, depending on the subject. His is two grades ahead in most subjects. I know a lot of parents who speak highly of the value and quality of Brain Quest and I couldn't agree more.
These short stories with reading comprehension questions on the very next card were a great way to motivate my reluctant reader to read a little at a time each hour. Especially while we were on vacation. Super idea!!
We have had many sets of Brain Quest, and we upgrade to higher level as and when age appropriate. We love using it when we travel, especially during road trips. We quiz each other and it's great learning new things as a family.
I bought these to sort of test my children's reading comprehension levels. This was perfect. They read a short story (fits on 1 side of 1 card) and then the next 2 cards ask questions about the story that was read.
I have loved every Brain Quest product we have ever bought for my daughter. The series teaches logic and real thinking that schools lack in their curriculums these days. These are a perfect product to supplement children's educations when they get home! Our daughter loves to use them with us.
